She is so elegant and is light as a feather. I like the fact that she also has more feminine proportions in all the right places than most ballerinas do. She is probably one of my favorite new generation dancers from mariinsky

Thank you for this clip from Cinderella which was a pleasure to watch. Vladimir and Renata performed so elegantly as they flowed through the choreography. 💖💖💕💕

Shakirova's acting is excellent. She made me feel the excitement a lonely girl finding her guy would feel. Thanks for posting this, BunduBallerina, a nice treat first thing in the morning. Now off to work.

Magnifico spettacolo e meraviglioso divertimento 🎉🎁❤️

What a beautiful pairing. Renata is a delight to watch with her beautiful line, well trained technique and growing artistry.I remember in 1974 after Mikhail Baryshnikov defected he made his formal international partnership debut in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with Gelsey Kirkland from the American Ballet Theatre. They chose Winnipeg, Canada because of close ties the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and specifically Arnold Spohr the artistic director had with the then Kirov now Mariinsky Ballet. I watched from backstage - Mikhail was so polished, he would wait behind the curtain just one minute longer than normal but it brought the audience to an almost fevered anticipation. Mikhail and Gelsey danced beautifully to a segment from Don Quixote. Renata will have many such nights before her and we will be able to watch this star’s career. Exciting.

This convinced me even more she is one of the most versatile ballerinas ever - she can dance Kitri, Juliet, Aurora, Giselle and this perfectly to name a few!

i just don’t care for the choreography….would like to see her/them in a different staging.

Did he change the story a bit? It looks like the design with the monochromatic background and Cinderella and the Prince in pale colors against the gem-like tones of the other women (and tuxedos for the men) is trying to make a statement beyond poor oppressed orphan finding Prince Charming. And choreo seems kind of angst-ridden (as opposed to, say, Ben Stevenson or older Russian versions). It's a great clip, thanks!

Yes, I think the story has been altered a little. Ratmansky does a good job of it. Thanks for your comment.

Amazing choreography. Who is the dance director?
@russking84633 жыл бұрын
The choreography is by Alexei Ratmansky. I love the way he keeps the focus on Cinderella in his version--we see everything through her eyes, both her wonder and her shyness attending such an event for the first time in her life, and Shakirova conveys this beautifully. The Mariinsky brought it to Berkeley in 2015, and I was lucky enough to see it then, with Shklyarov and Nadezhda Batoeva, who was equally wonderful in the role.

@@russking8463 Alexei Ratmansky I know this choreographer. Lost him from sight since the time of the Bolshovo Theater. Thanks for the answer.

@@irinalogvi1047 Since leaving the Bolshoi, Ratmansky has been working primarily in the United States, where he's currently the Artist in Residence of American Ballet Theatre, also creating new works for New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Miami City Ballet. San Francisco has presented his Shostakovich Trilogy, Carnival of the Animals and others, and will be doing his version of The Seasons for the first time next year. His delightful ballet Concerto DSCH was created for New York City Ballet in 2008, and is now also performed at the Mariinsky: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWTdm4uGeJiNorc
