In all probability, it was a conscious decision taken by Netaji to live a life of a Sanyasi because of the background of the 2nd World War and the likelihood of the erstwhile Allies terming him as a war criminal because of his association with Axis Powers. Once he went into hiding in Russia, it must have been revealed to him that it would not be in national interest to reappear as Netaji in India. His own conviction and spirituality would have been decisive in his existence as an ascetic for so many years until he passed away.

At that time, when asked about Bose, he had mentioned that he'd heard that he was now a sanyasin in North India, but hadn't really investigated it. Dear Kunal Bhai, In future interviews please find out how he was paying his rent , cash or Cheque and was he himself paying or somebody else was paying on his behalf.
