Very thorough review. I tried Frndly but ended up going with Philo as it seems Philo has more actual cable channels while some of the channels on Frndly I already get with my antenna.

Thanks for the video and making it a review rather than just a demo. Often YT channels label videos as a review, but only demonstrate what the product\service can do, and do not comment on expected features that are missing, or areas that were the product difficult to use.

Frndly pairs well with KZbin tv because you get the A&E channels, which KZbin tv doesn't carry.

@@darrellmcalister320 They would have to add the entire A&E package of channels which would cause a price hike of probably $7.00 or $8.00. I don't think that A&E would let them offer it as a voluntary add-on. :)

Some Frndly TV's channels are also found on local broadcast sub-channels and/or free sites (i.e Pluto), but it does offer a lot of content for the price it charges.

The only reason I got Frndly TV is because ME-TV Toons started airing & my bedroom TV can't pick it up over the air. I also like the fact that it has Vice TV. So now when there is a new Dark Side of the Ring, I can check that out. My complaints: 1. The channel selection doesn't play in the background while viewing the guide. 2. Frndly TV can't be accessed through any video game consoles. I use my PS4 to stream Pluto TV, TubiTV, & Peacock, but can't stream Frndly TV.

For best results get the 9 month dvr to load up on your favorite episodes and movies. And also the new "on demand " section has more tv show content. This makes frndly tv great.

Great video! Thank you for the information. I have just ordered the free trial and the one channel I really like is MeTV. My question is, why do some of the shows not allow "live" showing. For example, the Beverly Hilbilies come on at 9 pm in my area and when I tried to watch it, I could not watch it live. It said something about provider not allowing this show live, and it took me to the page where I could do on demand. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

While this SEEMS to be a good value, there are hardly any quality channels available. This doesn't look any better than my OTA channels. Too bad. Thanks for the posting, though. Probably a good choice for some.

I got Frndly because my local networks dropped MeTV and it feels nice to have it and the other sub-channels that the local networks had on there and that isn’t there. Living in western MT is fun...

As far as i can tell so far it does not seem that you can watch a complete series. I added Leave It To Beaver to my stuff and it only shows season 1,3 and 4 not sure why it skiped season 2.

Frndly tv is a reasonable live tv service. Best to pay the $110 annual subscription to get the most dvr at 9 months. I wouldn't pay for any of the others except maybe philo. All these tv services at $70 a month forget they're using our internet to go through it.! Ridiculous

I only want to watch on demand Christmas content and feel good movies without commercials. Would this be a good fit?

If you record shows or movies with the DVR, you can skip commercials. Most of the on-demand shows that aren’t recorded, however, will have ads. If you want to get Christmas movies w/out commercials or worrying about the DVR, I’d recommend Peacock Premium Plus ($9.99/mo) since it includes Hallmark Channel movies on-demand w/out ads.

the problelm i have is they dont add any new channels where philo does. So I went there and will see how that is. No live support also. I mostly only watched maybe 4 of their channels.

Friendly is not to bad. I don't like the limited seasons on the shows you can watch. Like Leave It To Beaver you can't watch the complete series. Also i don't get having to watch adds on the premium plan. There is not a huge collection of popular shows to watch. Pluto has more classic shows and it cost nothing.

First things first. If you want to exit a cable bill, add a ROKU. Then add specific streamers. I'm disabled and TV is my world, so I've investigated what alternative to cable is affordable for my family. Tubi, Freevee, & the Roku ch. all have a world of tv for free (well, for only the cost of wireless internet, 30 bucks mo.). Roku has LIVE local news too. I continued to pay 275- mo to cable JUST for Svengoolie Saturdays! (Even though I already have a Roku w installed streamers.) So I was going to bite the bullet + add Frndly to my streamers (bc we just couldn't afford cable anymore, and it has Sven). Again, I *only* wanted Frndly for that ONE show in it's 45th year. I've watched it every Saturday for YEARS (and put even put on my Sven tshirt to watch it😂). It's a narrated show for very old & classic horror/ Syfy films; like Vincent Price. (And I hoped for 3 other basic LIVE channels, 4, 5 & 7). On Roku many other streamers carry the basics LIVE. Peacock has ch4/NBC...and Paramount + has LIVE CBS, (Survivor fans). Ch 5 ABC watch day late on HULU. However, I'm noticing that Sven has been running repeats for months (on cable) and realized when I went to buy this streamer last month that Frndly has ALREADY gone up in the price and REMOVED HD quality for the basic plan, in just 1yr!. So it's 7.99(SD)now for the basic plan. Guess what? Upon further research I found Sven can be streamed cheaper on a very similar streamer (look up Svengoolie to see, begins w a "PH"). Considering Discovery+ started out at 4.99, on a sale ...Frndly doesn't seem as friendly. Not much bang for your buck. So, shop around, and holiday sales that lock you in for a long time (like Peacock) are a way better value. Stream in full the show you like and replace it with a streamer that has another show you may want to see all seas. of, and so on. Putting a Roku device on all the TVs in my house helped too and it has an app to spin TV sized family photos, like a photo album. It has a huge variety of local LIVE free content too. Add streamer LocalNow (free) for daily local NEWS. I'm really surprised Frndly, as a relatively new streamer, is already going up in the price and asking the same monthly price as some of the huge (in that they offer loads more content) streamers, (that will lock in a price around black Friday or Xmas as specials). Frndly notes online they don't offer sales. If you have a local public library card, add the streamer Hoopla for even more hard to find movies & 2:16 free content. These streaming companies don't seem to realize ppl are fed up and can't afford cable bc it went up in price year after year. So the streamers that will last (Pluto, Tubi) are the commercial based FREE ones. Or the lowest priced ones. Peace.😊

I switched to Brightspeed for internet thinking I would keep my tv and phone with Spectrum. But I can not do that. They will not let me stay without internet. I was on the small plan with 15 channels to pick. I am having a hard time trying to know how I can watch my channels. this tells me some. but I watch Next level Chef and Mater Chef Junior and Hells Kitchen. I do not see Fox on here. Where can I get that? I do not watch any sports. my prime channels for me to watch live with Kelly and Mark in my Am. and The Bachelor, and Shark tank. Things like this. Help from a Senior that is confused. I like to watch ID, Hallmark ( The Way Home) , Lifetime. I have been looking through all things on here but it is just getting to hard for me. Help needed please

Unfortunately no. To the best of my knowledge, the only live TV streaming service that lets you keep recordings indefinitely is Fubo.

Unless you have a “smart” TV that’s connected to the internet, you’ll need something like a Fire TV stick or Roku Stick. I prefer Roku personally- I think it’s easier to use and I like the layout of their menu better.

Way too many commercials! Counted 21 in a row recently. When a commercial comes up you can literally walk away and go do some of your chores it will take that long. I was shocked to be watching a movie on "FRNDLY" and was shocked to have a pornagraphic advertisement for their show "Sex Before the Internet. I am so disgusted because there is nothing friendly about pornography under the guise of a "Frndly" service. Buyers beware.

That show is one of the series on VICE, which has some pretty edgy content. Here's the situation with Frndly (and any of the other TV services for that matter): when a TV provider wants to carry a specific channel, the media companies require them to carry ALL of their channels. So I'm guessing with Frndly in order for them to carry Lifetime and History, they also had to carry VICE since it's owned by the same parent company (A&E Networks), even if it's off-brand for Frndly.
