Great advice for simplifying. Always loved the adagio violas, in particular... the whole series sounds amazing, but is overwhelming and I gave up on them. What you said about the Macabre Strings is spot on... basically, less is often more. Such is life, as well! Time to dig in again.

Cory you have a great ear and invaluable knowledge of stings and libraries! You helped me with my purchase of NI Symphony Series Ensemble and Furia Staccato Strings. I have all the 8dio sting libraries and actually love the scaled down version of Anthology (love what they've done with Century Brass) and looking forward to Century Ensemble Stings although I have so many string libraries I don't know if I'll buy any more. I still don't have CSS lol :--) Never really thought about the comparisons until this video so thanks for pointing that out! I love the sound of the Sordino strings but haven't spent too much time with the rest of the Agitato Grandiose series but love the way 8dio does Arcs (just bought Insolidus Choir regarding arcs...best thing I've ever heard with a little tweaking) The worst library I ever bought was Agitato Arpeggio especially the Ostinatos, I mean what good is it if they don't loop...total crap. I appreciate talk and demonstrations of 8dio libraries because there's not a lot of videos from actual users other than Troels who makes everything sound great, then you buy it and are disappointed. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. and thanks!

What should be good about Century Strings is instead of having a bunch of arcs for each section that don't fit as a whole, the arcs will be recorded the same for violins, violas, celli and basses, so I'm looking forward to doing a library spotlight for it.

Adagitato. That one is highly revered as one of the most popular and essential libraries in working orchestral composers. That's the one to get but it should be an supplement to your other libraries.

Really useful video. I own Agitato Arpeggio, Adagietto, Adagio Violins, Basses, Cellos and Anthology. If i had this video to watch before i bought the Arpeggio, Adagietto and some Adagio about one year ago i could have also made a better choice, specially on the Arpeggio and the Adagietto. I only bought Adagietto because i was told by 8Dio that it was a completely new and different product from Adagio and me -- despite reading the info on the site -- being a bit unixperienced, bought it when i could have saved that money. But i guess it´s all good; they were nice to me and offered me the biggest discount on the Anthology upgrade which was really kind.
@CoryPelizzari6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah the reason I made the video was because I originally ended up purchasing everything and knew other customers would have had a similar experience. With Century Strings on the way I thought this video would be useful to customers.

Great comparison. And great audio demos. I’ll add for it: the bass in adagio is good and agitato doesn’t have bass. There is great upgrade price on Anthology for owners of adagio & agitato. Anthology doesn’t have too much solo & ensemble articulations as adagio has.

Great video Cory! Your reviews are THE best out here. Wanted to highlight the anthology is free with any purchase over 89€ on 8dio site. As well as the 55% code live now. Thinking of getting centry brass and get the anthology with it for free. Looking for a chamber string ensemble and solo for a good price. Getting centry brass bundle and anthology for 140€ seems like a great deal ?
@1O1O112 жыл бұрын
I also came to this video after getting an email from 8Dio that Anthology is free with a purchase of blah blah blah. I have only used the solo instruments and not the ensembles from the Century Brass collection, but I can tell you the quality of those is the best I personally have ever used. But I'm no expert or anything. For that discounted price I think it would be very hard to find a better deal. I really like all the 8dio stuff I have bought.

Wonderful! Would you perchance think buying the entire Agitato bundle is worth it if I already own Adagietto and LS Chamber Strings? It's on sale right now ($150) and a lot of what it seems to provide looks fairly helpful as a companion library to what I already have.
@CoryPelizzari6 жыл бұрын
There are some unique legato styles in their so it'll enhance what you already have, so go for it if you feel you want it.

I am starting out with "digital music" as a complete novice, after playing acoustic pianos all my life. HOW TO GET STARTED? Love these cello / violin / string instrument packages and had no idea they weren't a real orchestra. Where to begin?

@@CoryPelizzari Thanks for the reply! From the official 8dio supposed confusion-clearing video, it seemed like Adagio might have been tightened up somewhat. More marketing bluster, I guess. I may, at some point, follow your tweaked combo suggestion, here. Just trying to get my head around all of this library (Not just with 8dio) craziness. Was a double-edged sword joining v.i.control - On one hand it definitely saved me from making some ill-advised, and rushed decisions. But on the other, I now have far too many options/choices. All part of the fun, I suppose. Thanks again, and happy holidays :)

Damn i was gonna upgrade to Anthology but I'm not sure now. I have all Adagio And all Agitato but don't like the interface. I was think anthology would help make things simpler etc. And now you say they have changed something in regard to image. I guess you just saved $49 and hdd space. But Anthology looks poor polish with less bumps as you say, you think it's still worth it for me to by it? I really don't like their old interface... Anyway, that was the best library review i have seen as far as i can remember. Great video and thank you.
@antonmorgan80316 жыл бұрын
It's not an really upgrade, more of a sideways grade...
@MustacheVerra6 жыл бұрын
Yes i know. But it's called an upgrade because of the pricing. As far as content it's more of a down grade. What I'm interested in is the content that they've fixed. Plus i prefer the interface a lot. Thanks.

Does anyone know why Adagio is now just "Part of Anthology"?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
Because 8Dio don't future proof their products, so when those products get old they devalue them and sell them in other packages that change again and again over time. In other words, they have a horrible business model that makes buyers regret paying full price for their libraries at first launch.
@poulwinther4 жыл бұрын
@@CoryPelizzari I am starting to get that feeling, thanks. So the original wide stereo and superior transition versions are now gone I presume.

Are you sold to 8dio? Emotion... Did you ever heard a real string ensemble? Did you ever heard such an amount of PORTAMENTO between the notes to MAKE IT SOUND REAL in the real world? Did you «had fun» programming these 8 dio adagio strings? To me it's not fun at all. I don't have only positive about 8dio products. Not to mention their high prices.
@zorancalic655 жыл бұрын
ZARATHOUSTRAM yes, I just wonder, is there any library that sounds like real strings when you play fast melody?? I always hear slow violins, but that is not problem, my old roland jv880 sounds is good enough for that! I would like to hear vivaldi four seasons, or mozart 40.symphony!!

@jameseverett90374 жыл бұрын
It seems that different people hear strings differently. After watching and comparing sounds from videos, the "Cinematic Strings" sound pretty good to me, especially their solo strings. Alot of people seem to like Spitfire, yet others say not so great. But ultimately it's impossible to tell until you have them and work with them, but you can't undo the purchase if you don't like them. Too bad software is not refundable. I have 10s of thousands of dollars tied up in samples I will never use.
@Po1itica11yNcorrect2 жыл бұрын
@@jameseverett9037 Spitfire makes some great stuff. I own almost all of their high end stuff. Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra Pro, Chamber Strings Pro, Spitfire Studio Orchestra Pro, Spitfire Solo Strings, BBCSO Pro, all the Abbey Road One's, all 6 in the Albion series, as well as HZ Strings, HZ Percussion Pro plus several of their other percussion libraries and Eric Whitacre Choirs. Mostly happy with them because I bought them all over several sales. I will say this though. Avoid their Albion series and their Spitfire Solo Strings like the plague. HORRIBLE libraries for the price they charge, even on sale. SSS sounds uselessly synthy and some of the Albions are literally missing about half their sounds (Uist and Inceni). Dead files from the start. Wish I could get my money back on those.
