The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a complex and deeply-rooted issue that cannot be analyzed without considering religious beliefs and values. Prof. Mordechai Kedar’s discussion of the Muslim perspective provides important insights into how religious beliefs can shape people’s attitudes and behaviors in the conflict. Understanding the religious motivations behind the conflict is crucial to finding long-term solutions and fostering peace. Whether one agrees with Prof. Kedar’s views or not, his analysis offers a unique perspective that contributes to a more nuanced understanding of the situation.

Just listened to Mordechai Kedar's excellent clear simple explanations. He so clearly knows what he's talking about. My only question: how is it that so many people do not hear, do not have the capacity to listen? I have a rabbi friend who tells me that most of his friends are non-Jews, because he finds most Jews are so frustratingly blocked when it comes to the reality of Islam, the Muslim mind, anything in that area. Anyway, thank you for your excellent presentation, which will get through to anyone with ears to hear.

There are basically two Koran one that came from Mohammed's time in Mecca which may loosely be regarded as the Koran of "peace" and one that came from his time in Medina which abrogated much of what went before so you have a dualism in Islam. There are at least 23 versions of the Koran written down by various clerics and Islamic scholars from various parts of the Islamic world all of which have been subject to thousands of corrections and amendments in total so it cannot be said that the Koran is the word of Allah unchanged or inviolable. The original Koran was an oral tradition and recital of Allah's speech to Mohammed. It was not codified until approx 80-100 years later when 90+ % of the multitude of these oral traditions were thrown out before being textualised in the Koran so no one least of all any Muslim has any idea of what the original oral tradition preached.

There are those who point out that there are bad issues in the Torah, but there is a difference. I understand those who take the Koran literally vs those moderates who see generally a more peaceful approach. Over centuries, the Torah has been interpreted from many points of view from orthodox and very orthodox to moderate to liberal and very liberal and non Jews Most of us look at this book as allegorical, historical, traditional, etc. and above all LIFE is the highest achievement we have and the Torah unlike the Koran does not lead us to kill anyone who does not believe in an ideology that kills innocents. There is war in the bible and compromise and struggling with God, but we are human and we do not go out to kill and end life for religious reasons. Israelis help the world with medical devices and pharmaceuticals to save lives; they don't stab other people to get rid of them or build tunnels to bomb Israelis, and certainly they don't commit suicide. Israelis help all, including arabs who need medical help etc etc. This is a good discussion; I just don't see a resolution to this anytime soon, maybe never, but I hope there will be.
@boliussa7 жыл бұрын
It's simpler than that. When the old testament has violent stuff in it, it's descriptive not prescriptive.. It's telling a story of what happened.. not what must be done now. In the quran it's prescriptive.
@multiahmad39037 жыл бұрын
Ellen Lerner Jewish supremacists like you think their shit doesn't stink when they worship the most unpleasant character in the history of all fiction. The Jewish god is jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak, a genocidal, patricidal, sadomasochist, misogynist, racist, bloodthirsty capriciously malevolent bully. Over centuries, the Quran has also been interpreted from many points of view, from the very conservative to the very liberal. But unlike the Torah, the Quran does not contain calls to genocide, rape, burning people alive and killing women, children and even mindless animals. The Quran says: "Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely." [5:32] There is no passage like this about the universal sanctity of life in the Torah. The Talmud says that whoever kills an "Israelite" soul is as if he had killed all mankind, and whoever saves an "Israelite" soul, is as if he had saved all mankind. That's the difference between the universalism of Islam and the tribalism of Judaism. That's why Judaism will never be a global religion like Islam or Christianity, or atheism and will always be a small marginal religion that nobody takes seriously. No ideology kills innocents more than Judaism. Jews have killed more people per capita throughout history than any other religious group. You say that Jews don't go out and kill for religious reasons, but the Jewish Defense League and Kach disagree, and have murdered many people for religious reasons. You say that you don't stab other people to get rid of them and don't commit suicide, but you do burn people alive like the Dawabsha family and Mohammad Abu Khdeir. You say you don't build tunnels to bomb yourselves, but you do drop bombs on women, children, elderly, hospitals, mosques, schools and civil infrastructure. It's not only Israelis who help the world with medical devices and pharmaceuticals. North Americans, Europeans, Japanese and Chinese help the world more than Israel.Yesterday 129 countries condemned Israel at the UN, because Israelis are just the cry-bullies that nobody really likes.
@multiahmad39037 жыл бұрын
Rachel gold Islam living in the 7th century with all its followers is still far more liberal and progressive than Judaism living in the Bronze age with all its followers. The Torah was "so so advanced" for its time that it allowed genocide, burning girls alive, slavery, rape, flogging, amputation, racism, supremacism and misogyny. I will take the far superior Babylonian, Canaanite and Egyptian stories and religions over your savage and vulgar book any say in the week.
@multiahmad39037 жыл бұрын
boliussa There is plenty of prescriptive violence, terror and genocide in the Torah: "I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you. Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods." [Exodus 23:31-32] "10 When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. 11 If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. 12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. 15 This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby. 16 However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them-the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites-as the Lord your God has commanded you. 18 Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the Lord your God." [Deuteronomy 20:10-18] "3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’”" [1 Samuel 15:3] “Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him. 18 But all the young girls who have not known a man by sleeping with him, keep alive for yourselves.” [Numbers 31:17-18] “‘If a priest’s daughter defiles herself by becoming a prostitute, she disgraces her father; she must be burned in the fire.” [Leviticus 21:9] These are not merely "telling a story of what happened". These are direct commandments from Yahweh to genocide, enslave, kill, rape and steal other nations. The Quran on the other hand prescribes fighting only in self-defense: "And fight in the way of God those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. God does not like transgressors." [2:190] It commands to treat peaceful non-Muslims with kindness and justice: "God does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, God loves those who act justly." [60:8] It commands regarding peaceful non-Muslims exactly as Muslims: "and do not say to one who gives you [a greeting of] peace "You are not a believer,"" [4:94] It commands rescuing non-Muslims if they seek refuge in us even when they are fighting us and that we should escort them to a safe place: "And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah . Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know." [9:6] And it commands taking the initiative of peace and mending relations with our enemies: "And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend. But none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one having a great portion [of good]." [41:34-35]

Even two millennia ago, our rabbis stated that a Sanhedrin that held more than two executions in seventy years was a murdering court. There is absolutely no comparison between Jewish courts of any age versus Islamic courts of then or of today. To compare them merely indicates the ignorance of the speaker, and his lack of education about our Torah.

5:18 this »obsession« with Judaism, as he calls it, is to underline the point that Islam is a repetion of former revelations to other prophets that were sent earlier, but have been changed and corrupted, hence the need for a last and final revelation. All this Mordechai knows very well. If he was a true Torah practising and believing jew he would never sit calmly in front of a camera and ridicule another monotheistic prophet and blatantly undilutedly outright lie.
@shainazion40732 жыл бұрын
Nothing has been corrupted. God would not send someone like Quathem. And, if you do the research the Arabs were the ones that corrupted their own Quran. The researchers have now shown that Islam was based on early Aramaic Christian hymns that they rewrote to Arabic. The Dome of the Rock says nothing about any Night Journey, but speaks about Jesus, as Muhammed.
