I am a Christian and I watch the service from Central Synagogue on Friday evenings. Rabbi Angela is an inspiration to me. She is so gifted. She exudes kindness and gentleness and has a beautiful singing voice. God has blessed her abundantly and she in turn blesses us. Thank you Rabbi Angela.

Rabbi Angela Buchdahl brought me back to Judaism. Having been away from the synagogue for several years, I always yearned to have a connection to a place where I'd worship and learn about Judaism. One Shabbat I was just checking you tube and saw Central Synagogue video advertised, I turned it on and listened to Rabbi Angela and have since been participating in services since then. She is everything I always looked for in a teacher.

This was so enlightening and comforting. I agree with everything that Rabbi Golub said about Rabbi Buchdahl in the introduction. As a matter of fact, Rabbi Buchdahl has also become my "internet rabbi," as I sometimes jokingly say, and I've watched her services pretty much every Shabbat for over a year, which also coincided with my very first year of Torah reading. I often wish I could be there in New York, and every question that I have about Torah portions, prayer, halakha, converting, and so forth, I would love to be able to just ask Rabbi Buchdahl directly. G-d bless all of you.

I am a lover of the jewish people, pray for them, follow the news of what concerns them and feel one of them in more than my surname gives witness to. in these last few years I have followed central synagogue activities after having accidentally fallen onto one of your videos on youtube and look forward to your weekly sabbath celebrations and other high feasts screened on youtube. the music and general organisation of all the events are just professionally perfect and that is an added bonus. I love to see the congregation participate in all the celebrations and especially how the festivities always highlight some aspect or other of jewish family life such as bar and bat mizvah , a couple getting married , loved ones who have passed on to a better life and others. having said that I wish to express my greatest admiration to rabbi Buchdahl who glues me to my chair everytime she is giving a sermon. she is so profpund intelligent and truly commited to the lord. her words are clothed in authority whioch only the lord imparts tom his dear committed servants. may the lord bless you and keep you rabbi, may the lord shine his light upon you and keep you in his peace amen

Thank you, Rabbis, for this wonderful conversation! And by the way, for those commenters who aren’t familiar with this series: Rabbi Golub introduces EVERY guest in the same respectful and positive manner. And it’s entirely appropriate that he does so.

Your comment, so true and on point, reminds me of his interview with Jackie Mason. Rabbi Golub was in the moment, as usual, introducing Jackie Mason with an ever more glowing torrent of superlatives when, at the very moment Jackie Mason was cued to speak, he did so with the following quip: "It's a pity you didn't have anything good to say about me."

So the Torah is what to the Rabbis? Who was Moshe talking to that he scribed the Torah? Did the universe or a force send him to deliver the Hebrews from Egypt? The fear of G_d is the beginning of wisdom, not intellectual insight. I don't think I totally get the Rabbi, regarding her thoughts about a "force". Why believe in Torah, why study Torah? Where does Truth exsist, rest, or stem from. Uncertainty of who the force of divinity is, has led many to fall in to a pit. 😢

I guess if you don’t know the answer, perhaps consider refraining from making declarative statements. an accurate one would be, “She’s not an orthodox Jew”. I won’t speak for her, and while I totally agree the beginning was A Bit Much, the interview overall is well-executed and her story is quite compelling. you and I might not agree on the broad definition of “a Jew”, but, you might gain some insight into others’ lives upon watching. shalom and all the best to you David.
