Yes. I am originally from Georgia next to Russia and in the mountains of the Caucasus we had wolf warriors also (also all the Caucasus tribes revere the wolf) but Australian Aboriginals take on different animal totems to get into their mind-state and learn to hunt them and native Americans also do that. It’s also a type of magic and I think a general human ability.

As for Slavic paganism, I have knowledge primarily only about my West Slavic region, where I can give two examples of shamanism: 1) Among the West Slavic tribes in the territory of today's eastern Germany, we have evidence from the chronicles of Svantovit's divination with the help of a white horse that was crossing a spears lying on the ground. If he overstepped the crossed spears with his right leg, it meant victory in battle, otherwise the expedition was postponed. 2) The old Czechs had a rumor about the princess Libuše and her sisters Kazi and Teta, who could also be called shamans. For example Libuše foretold the future with the help of various elements, for example a small lake. It's just a rumor, but a very old one (12th century), which arose among the old Czechs at a time when paganism still survived, even though our lands had already been christianized for a long time. Btw, very interesting point that werewolf in Slavic mythology could also have the same meaning as wolf berserker. As a Czech, I never thought about it like that, always only as a wolf-man monster. For clarification, "dlaka" in Proto-Slavic language meant skin - vlkodlak = a wolf skin.

This is such basic information and there's not a lot of it. Read the Prose and poetic Edda, read some sagas (they're terribly written and not very entertaining so brace yourselves lol), read the Galdrabok, there's not alot of legit information on this shiiii from the actual time period. You could read all the sources regarding "religion/myth" that have survived from the "viking age" in less than a week. Unfortunately, Abrahamic religions erased this information from the planet. I feel like modern "paganism" or whatever you want to call it is falling into the same trap Rome did when falsely aging their myth 2000+ years ago. Be honest, stop bull shayting people, we have very little information on this stuff.

A very interesting thing I learnt is the very tribe of the Viking leader Odin is from Russia's Asian Steppe empire of Scythian tribeS that were later called Germanic tribes that the Judean Israelites are said to also come from. Also I really do not believe that the name Slavic really means slaves of Vikings as Vikings only slaved the worst criminals that upset a peaceful multicultural trade merchant empire.
@DrengrRekkrКүн бұрын
That's...an interesting take...first time I'm earing about it. But as for the slavs, essentially the word slav comes from the slavic word for either slava (glory/honour) or slovo (word)

@DrengrRekkr thank you bless you, it really looks like the worst uncultured criminals that were slaved by Odin's own and even Dracula's own to end famine are trying to get all of Odin's Vikings killed in a friendly fire accident between the Slavic and the vikings, a friendly fire accident caused by misinformation or peace violation that destroys all peaceful multicultural communities.
