for straight up 1v1 PVP I can see lava burst being really tough to get off with a 2 second cast. Way back in the day, I played discipline priest in season 1 arenas and it felt a lot like resto shaman now. It was crazy hard to kill and could just wear you down with instant cast spells.

I commented this on a past video about water shield vs lava burst, and I've since refined my take on it. I think that you have a spectrum of rune choices depending on how solo you want to be vs how much you want to play a mid line support/caster team build. For 100% solo play, Water Shield, Shield Mastery, Way of Earth is almost for sure going to be most bang for buck. You lean in to double shocks and melee range for your damage and just out survive your enemy. Every swap of a rune makes you less "Solo" and more "Group". So going Lava Burst over Water Shield is a swap that can be hard to get off when getting melee trained, but if you're in a 2v2 or higher the burst is valuable. Then Swapping out Shield Mastery for Overload is a big hit to survivability but gives ungodly burst in a group scenario if you're not the kill target and/or have another healer to support you. That is usually where I would stop, but then if you want to fully lean in to the support caster role and take a massive hit to solo survivability, replacing Way of Earth with Shamanistic Rage gives you a massive mana pool and much more healing potential in 3v3 and up scenarios. At this point I think shaman is extremely balanced for the lvl 25 cap with a nice range of playstyles, and it really is going to be situation dependent on which particular rune set up you run. That being said, earth shield is in the leg slot which is too competitive a slot to use it in, and Healing Rain is almost useless in pvp due to it's being locked on the ground. Shamanistic Rage is basically never worth running in a combat scenario, but it's invaluable as a swap piece to just get a full mana bar any time you're OOC. Earth Shield I feel could be a bit underrated. Its instant healing is substantial, somewhat alleviating the lack of WoE bulk, and the pushback protection is excellent for non-resto lvb builds. I mean to try it more in the coming days.

Ive been thinking about Ancestral Guidance more lately, overload HW with crits can hit for more than 1k and most opponents wont see it coming either. Probably good to pair with water shield to keep mana up due to no sham rage. Also its a pretty long Cd

I just have a build mostly focused around stam, strength, and intellect with water shield, way of earth, and shield mastery. Pretty much the only class I can't beat are hunters. The earth shock being on a different cooldown is actually pretty huge and you can stick onto all casters like glue with the exception of mages.

A great way to think of totems is that they're literally just like any other spells. It's like a paladin blessing that you need to keep up, or a Warrior Battle Shout. I'm a shaman lover, best class, always has been!

Isnt tidal focus kinda redundant if you go Water shield, its not much mana at level 25? Isn't improved healing paired up with healing focus just better?

Its pretty brutal atm, the best advice is enhance improved ghost wolf you can get away, reset the fight, then rush them till you deadzone

Been messing around on my shaman a bit too. Also using the two set piece, but haven’t tried the water shield, shield mastery combo. Definitely gotta try that. I also run resto talents as I heal in BFD. However w/o Ghost wolf its hard to not get kited I feel like. What do you think? What classes are you struggling against the most?

Yeah ghost wolf is a huge lost as resto, if hunter catch me im dead, along with priest and warlocks. With improved ghost wolf i at least could get away and reset the fight, but im doing better against paladins a bit more

Not really, there usually arent other shamans, and if they are, they are tanks, i usually tank bfd or melee dps here and there. Most of the shaman gear just goes to me

Yo! Love the video man, and showcasing all the specs, love the take on resto, playing into “healing focus” Wonder if you have considered going into elemental tree, taking Reverberation for quicker shocks. Elemental Focus for mana preservation and Eye of the Storm that prevents you from loseing casting time.

No the HoJ stun is standard, but they have Rebuke Rune that interrupts the spell cast.

no wont be the monitor, try changing the direct x setting in graphics to 11 from 12 and then if that doesnt work try updating direct x, if that doesnt work update graphics drivers, if that doesnt work try uninstalling graphics card software with DDU (google this) (assuming you have a geforce) and then download 457.51 drivers and see if that fixes the issue@@TythonWOW

I feel like i just have a different take/experience because im tauren master race 😅. Warstomp allows for lava burst in melee face which causes too much of an advatnage in the fight for me. Stunning hunter+its pet or priest +minions or lock+minions. That rogue that you spent forever trying to cast lava burst off was also just because you wanted to im sure. Its like "no fuck this guy im gunna cast it" and you could have at the end i think but yeah. The funny thing about that is you really dont need to because totems and shocks alone can 1v1 anyone. So water shield wouldnt have helped there but it would against the longer fights like priest. But my thing again with priest pally or warlock is my stimp combo gets such a head start that these fights are actually possible to out last. Its also great to just have the option to do masive range damage if yoire being kited or theyre running away. Rank 1 earth for kicks and reduced shock cost in ele tree. Can't play without imp ghost wolf especially with being able to frost shock then get right back into it to chase a hunter. Or just trinket first concussive shot and connect with them then its gg lol

Yeah i think tauren in terms of reliable cc is good, however i resist so much more besides rogues: -Warriors charge/intercept -Iron grenades/mortar -Pallies HoJ -Hunters’ improved concussive It can be a real life saver
