The little voices inside Riley’s head know her inside and out-but next summer, everything changes when Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” introduces a new Emotion: Anxiety. According to director Kelsey Mann, the new character promises to stir things up within headquarters. “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” said Mann. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.”
Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust. Actually this deleted scene is pretty awesome, I like how important stuff from the first movie is referenced here like the credit card Riley stole from her mom. It's such a - shame - they didn't choose this turn of events for the second movie, it would have been interesting, though the story we got was pretty good.

From the thumbnail, shame being a massive shadow monster in the depths of headquarters is an awesome idea. It could be cool if it revealed later that shame wasn’t actually a big monster and was like the one from this clip. Maybe in the third movie?

If they do a third Inside Out, I really think Shame should be in it. I feel like this sort of storyline (as well as Shame herself) could line up really well with the Deep Dark Secret character that was seen in the second film. Also, think about it. Grace and Bree are going to a different school than Riley, which could possibly cause them to stop talking to each other after a while. Since Riley would most likely be older in the third film, stuff is going to change, and said changes may conflict with the changes Grace and Bree go through, which could possibly be the cause of this moment, something along the lines of Riley getting invited to this party and Bree and Grace getting invited to it as well without Riley knowing. Expanding upon the changes concept, it's also shown in the second film that Riley is clearly ashamed of liking Get Up and Glow when asked about her favorite band by the Fire Hawks. It's also shown that she still likes Bloofy and Lance Slashblade, but those are kept in the Vault of Secrets. Why would you hide something like that? Because you're ashamed of it. Which means that there's a possibility that Shame is linked directly to the vault and that (if there's a third movie) that location in her mind could be expanded upon and become a big part of the plot.

The problem is that one of the reasons that shame got deleted is that it didn't feel like she came from a place of "love" and "care" for Riley, like as if she didn't really cared about Riley well-being, like the other emotions do.

I imagine it would've been similar to the anxiety attack scene, just with shame driving the storm and anxiety backing shame up. Maybe in the irl plot Riley would've run off and had a similar experience of spiraling, just driven by being convinced everybody hated her. Then inside shame would be driving and creating a storm inside headquarters, saying that it was what Riley deserved (it would be kinda cool if the floor collapsed or something so the "I'm not good enough" sense of self pit started sucking everything in) and anxiety would exacerbate the destruction further, like running about maybe creating the "electricity" of the storm and yelling that spiral-y self hatred dialogue. I definitely could be projecting to a degree though lol

Honestly a part of me thinks "Shame" would be a combination of Sadness, Disgust and Embarassment. NOW I also feel some of the "swirl" emotions introduced at the end of the first film could represent some of the new emotions in THIS movie. Perhaps one thing the could have explained is that when certain "marble" emotions come up frequently enough, that's when it's time for a new designated emotion to step in....
