We have almost identical footage from the next year (March 1989) - me and my little brother did the tricks with the whale the little boy does at 9:20 - managed to jump out of the way for the splash bit though. I'd forgotten the James Earl Jones commentary...

My father was there but still even if it is entertaining it is so wrong to keep such big animals in little pools. It is dreadful of what they do to the poor creatures thats why Shamu,Tilikum and Katina had killed their trainers because they wanted to be free of the stress if they don’t do the tricks the other orcas would rake them with their teeth and would have been deprived of food. Also the way they capture the calves from their pods is evil so fun fact DON’T HOLD ANIMALS CAPTIVE THEY ARE WILD NOT PETS OR PLAY THINGS!!
