YES THE SNAP LOOKS COOL BUT PLEASE STOP DOING IT! Also, NO it's not you, Evelyn DOES get hit pretty often after using her chain attack because the special chain attack does NOT make Evelyn invulnerable, she actually has lower anti-interrupt levels. It's still nice that we get to use a Trial version of Evelyn together with Astra in the 1.5 version of Zenless Zone Zero, but you should try her out again with this newfound knowledge and see that Evelyn becomes much more fun to play

it's still optimal to not snap, not because she loses the buff but because mashing basic attack puts you back into BA3 and speeds up the resource acquisition. 80% of her damage comes from her chain attacks, getting there faster is all that matters

The very first line of her Core Skill: "Upon entering Binding Seal, Evelyn's CRIT Rate increases by 25%. After leaving Binding Seal, she retains the buff for 10s." You don't lose the crit rate buff instantly when you leave the binding seal state so it's not that terrible to do the finger snap. All your other points like BA1+BA2 skip/dps/single target vs group/flow of combat? Sure, those check out, but I'm disappointed you made such an easy mistake when it's written as clear as day as the very first line of her Core Skill.

do you know if evelyn has 55% crit rate, and she enters her Binding seal and reaches that 80% crit threshold in game, will it apply the extra damage?

@ Yeah it should function that way. Miyabi M2 is a similar thing - she gains 15% Crit Rate upon entering the battlefield but it obviously won't be listed on her stat screen because it only happens in combat, so 65% crit rate with Miyabi M2 will be enough to hit her 80% Crit Rate max frost buildup rate (not even considering Crit Rate sources like Nicole M6 or the 4pc B&B effect). I imagine building Evelyn will be the same way so 55% Crit Rate on her stat screen will be sufficient to activate the 80% Crit Rate damage buff. Edited because I originally said "don't go past 80%" but you obviously can, just don't go past 100%.

I feel like people are still missing the fact that Evelyn's attacks are made to work well with teams focused on quickswaps. Seriously, her animations last a long time and she does a follow-up attack if you have binding seal active when swapping off, so you can essentially have her do significant damage while you're using another agent at the exact same time. Not to mention, she can swap off-field to another unit while doing the weaker chain attack, so you don't have to sit and wait through the animation to go through your rotation. If you learn how to swap on and off field efficiently, she weaves in and out of combat better than any other agent. The amount of additional tech she has is nuts, and people will see that. I won't be pulling because I'm looking towards SSAnby and Trigger, but Evelyn will be a very good pickup for anyone interested!

@ just checked out a video with 2b running and i cant say that they look the same. Eve animates weirdly when running, if you pay attention to her legs it just looks off or unpolished. Just a little nitpick from me.

This video host did know wtf he is talking about, the finger click not only keep crit rate, but also add invincible frames when you dealing boss. It also triggers quick assist plus buff from Astro Yao's singing. Use ur brain before posting next time.

been playing a lot in the trial and figured out lots of cool stuff and have been thinking of a bunch of rotations that might work. very fun character to play and i love the design, probably my most favorite character so far. i already have lighter and astra, and i have more than 160 pulls left so it's a no brainer that im pulling her, especially since i didn't really like ss anby's design or gameplay from leaks tbh. almost done with the prefarm and i can't wait to get the full team experience once she drops.

Half the problem is that Evelyn is not only meant to be speficially paired with Astra but you NEED a third team member to abuse the constant swaps Astra enables. Evelyn basically wants a dance partner while Astra is singing. This allows many of her longer animations to continue while you've swapped to the other character.

I was actually doing this in the trial. I just felt her animations were too long then i tried using the skill after her last attack and I was surprised you could actually loop her fire combos with this just like Yanagi

When I was trying Evelyn, I was actually struggling to dodge during attack, it was weird getting hit more often. I guess that’s a fun factor that makes her more challenging or I just have skill issue

I feel like people are missing out on Yanagis power by just reserving her as a Miyabi battery. She is so insanely strong, not only due to her damage, but the parry aswell. You can literally no hit most stuff just by doing your attack rotation

I don't think Evelyn's unique chain attack has any less invulnerability than a regular one. She's immediately vulnerable after the snap so I'm pretty sure you can mash the dodge button or try to queue one up right as she snaps. The description at 4:29 only mentions interrupt level which affects enemies. Its why the Ruthless fiend continues to attack but the small mob next to it stops and gets pulled. It doesn't mention anti-interrupt levels like Jane Doe's Salchow Jump or Burnice's Double Shot attacks.

I think the most important mechanics of her are going to be maintaining the binding seal, using the skill to improve normal attack combos, and using the EX Skill to dodge. Whenever she dodges with her EX, a lot of her passive gauge is restored, and it's probably an essencial use of her energy, always dodge with it.

No you’re right. Unfortunately as cool as she looks she has so many long, uncancellable animations that the devs for some reason didn’t give her I-frames for like her chain attacks. It makes her feel really bad to play in practice compared to Miyabi who has I frames on literally everything she does

The problem is that you can’t dodge until after she’s stopped the animation but she is vulnerable DURING the end of the animation for a second or two. So you literally cannot dodge

Meh, me going for cinema: mash attack buttons as Super Anby and watch how she, Trigger and Pulchra gang bang my target(s) o) Thanks gods Trigger is not a melee-ranged kick-punch-shot character like Zhu Yuan or Harumasa, and not "press or release button in the right time" agent, like someone tried to predict: her ex-special is teleport + melee slash ?intended? to be used before sending her off-field, and her counter attack is a melee slash, which is fine - this allows her to have parry instead of slo-mo dodge, and thus activates happy mode for Caesar o)

It's not that big of a deal even if it does detonate cus like I said, the crit rate buff stays for 10 seconds and even if you're just spamming normals like you're usually doing, you'll bind another enemy with the 5th basic attack before that 10 seconds even pass

A lot of people, including me, when we go and do an event with trial a character we just roll with it and we don't bother reading everything in their kit. This video is for those that simply did the event and call it a day. This shows a nice way to feel her gameplay more fluid instead of simply spammin basic attacks. Is really not that hard to understand. For some people like you and OP comment, this might have been unnecesary, but clearly from looking at others comments, is not the same.
