Shane has to take some blame here. They went in to this fight believing it was going to be an easier fight, so when Leo started using the jab, Carl wasn't able to adjust. Underestimating you're opponent will backfire. This has to be a learning fight for Shane, as much as it is for Frampton.

100% right Charlie - one dimensional. Leo said he would sit on the back foot and they was not prepared for that. No back up plan struggled for ideas. If Shane thinks high energy was enough of a tactic to win this fight he is not doing justice for his fighters.

Seeing Shane & Barry talk in the buildup they was simply too arrogant. Not acknowledging what Santa Cruz brings to the table... Example Cruz actually said he's going to use his range, and these idiots didn't believe him. When of course he's gonna use his range he didn't last time and cost him the fight... Santa Cruz was the better fighter tonight I thought Carl would win again but props to santa Cruz for changing his tactics for this fight and I think it shocked frampton and his trainer cuz in that interview with mcguigan on here he flat out said santa Cruz wont do nothing different and I think Carl and shane thought it to and that threw frampton of his game plan and he was trying to land big shots in most of the rounds where as Leo was peppering him with a great jab and yeah 1-1 now would like to see a 3rd don't think it will happen in Belfast tho

shane showed no urgency didnt panic carl enough to step on the gas...this is the problem when your mate is your trainer...carl after 4 rounds need to step on it but santa cruz tactics were never troubled...

Agreed. He's shown that he isn't an astute adviser and I also question his guidance concerning the physical conditioning of and also his dietary advice to Frampton. Frampton looked laden and sluggish from the off and this could probably have been because he put much too much weight on between the weigh-in and the fight itself. He has Frampton training with weights which has meant that the 5'4" Frampton was forced to move up to Featherweight in the first place !

The Frampton team clearly dismissed the idea that LSC would box and then couldn't make the adjustments but it was still a close fight. People seem to want to judge a trainer from fight to fight like Shane is terrible now because of a close decision loss against a quality operator. A bad night doesn't make a bad trainer

Low energy corner work all night. Asking him to go out and use his feet in the last round, when he's knackered and needed a KO? I couldn't understand that. Credit to Carl he tried his best in the 12th. His timing was off though and Santa Cruz made him miss a lot, he was exceptional.

Shane and barry BOTH said that cruz COULD not fight using his reach on the backfoot. Santa Cruz even gave them the gameplan and they did NO prep for that possibility. Absolutely stupid and complacent preperation. Cruz didnt even fight in that style particularly well. If they had practiced for that style they probably would have won. now cruz has no reason to rematch anytime soon... They fucked up BADLY Maybe bellew might just beat haye...
