Earls commentary is so valuable. Anticipating a pattern in a pro match gives so much insight. It wouldve been great to have gotten this info 20 yrs ago for me. I only hope you amateur players and weekend players learn something here

A few random thoughts i had while watching: This was back during a time when both of these gentleman were more of a pleasure to watch. (Except for this 1:28:58, 12 seconds duration) they seemed to struggle less with both strategy and execution than they do now -- even with this unusual table response. What a difference five years make. Today, both of them seem (to me) to have to do more grinding it out and still not always getting comfortable results. I like to see each of these two do well because i know that they can. But, it isn't as much fun to watch them anymore as it was here. 1:08:42 (6 seconds duration) Better than *most* of them, _i'd_ say, Earl.

u are right...players tend to spent more time in preparing the shot....it has come from the european approach to the game
@marginality270
@marginality270 3 жыл бұрын
@@billiardnetwork ...And, their random results show well the problem with using that approach if it's out of sync with their natural rhythm. Philippines and Chinese Taipei have most of the best players in the world and few, if any, of them spend 4 to 6 weeks measuring and angling between every shot. There's merit to that admonition: 'Study long, study wrong'. In most cases, if you can't see what needs to be done in a few seconds, there's a good chance you're not going to be able to _do_ it, either.

Great match, but I really don't understand how people can enjoy the comments... He's the only person commenting I've heard who talks about himself when other people are playing, telling about the way he plays/played and how well he did it. That's so arrogant and annoying when he talks. Being a top professional player doesn't make you the god of the game, and honestly, there are and were much better players than him. Not to mention more humble...
