I’m sure someone else has already said it, or the actual reasoning behind it..I think they allow jump cues now so the games go by faster and they don’t get stuck in a “kick-at” defense battle.

Here’s what I’ve learned about Shane’s game over the year’s. While Shane is very capable of executing a variety of shots he only uses english when it’s absolutely necessary. In other words, if he could make the shot and use an angle to achieve the same result, he will avoid using english. Earl on the other hand mesmerizes the crowd by using extreme english to make the cue ball travel around the table and land in the perfect spot. Unfortunately there’s risk in this shot and as he got older he started missing more. Shane on the other hand is less about showmanship and more about winning and that involved mitigating risk which resulted in more championships. JMHO

Don't forget the fact that Earl came from a different era of pool, environments equipment and players have changed a lot it's hard for an old player to keep up not to mention "AGE" the eyes and the body change. Earl knows he can't compete against this new players but his love for the game pushes him, you won't see Sigel Varner Rempie or even efren play real tournaments or masconis

Mark White tried to be a snooker announcer and got himself shunned for any major event because of exessively trying to input too much controversy and BS. He is no better announcing pool. Railbirds will have a much better future sending him back across the pond.
