To be fair, Otis wouldn't leave Shane behind when Shane tried to get him to do it. Shane understood either they both died or one of them. Otis refused to understand that, and Shane would not let Carl die.

It would have been cool to see WHY Shane was so quick to adapt. Why he immediately understood what was needed to survive. We just see him acting crazy yelling about keeping others safe without him ever explaining himself.
@remington_acr1651 Жыл бұрын
Humans are very adaptable creatures. There doesn’t necessarily have to be a reason outside of the strong desire to live. Though this isn’t always the case. Shane said so himself that Lori and Carl were the ones keeping him alive. Within the timeframe of Rick being presumed dead Shane grew on those two. They were a good enough reason to keep going. Rick coming back and essentially taking them away effectively takes away Shane’s will to live. Which is why he goes down this long dark path after the fact. Let’s also look at what happened with Otis, Carl was shot and to be frank I don’t think Shane would’ve sacrificed anyone else with the exception of maybe Rick if Carl’s life wasn’t in danger. In this moment he wasn’t saving Rick’s son, he was saving HIS child. Or.. what he thought was his.
@InfernusXS Жыл бұрын
One of the first things he ever saw were soldiers executing civilians in the hospital which explains a lot imo. Too bad he seemingly never told anyone but Rick about that.

That deleted scene when they go back to the Loco gang and they've all been shot could have been used to show how Shane realized what is now needed to survive. The group doesnt really realize this until like after the governor
@simonbelmont658 ай бұрын
Shane’s problem was he was too obsessed with Lori. The moment Rick came back, Shane should have come clean with him right away, but he didn’t. He kept on trying to get back with Lori knowing she belonged to Rick who’s supposed to be his best friend? Then Shane tried to“SA” Lori at the CDC, Not okay!!! Shane should have left Lori alone and hooked up with Andrea and left the group that’s the best thing he could have done.

Good video, but man I was lowkey hoping you would mention when he decided to kill Randall behind everyones back while they debated rather to spare him or kill him... Which I think Shane had every right to cuz Randall would've told his men about the farm and there would've been a war.

@@footedthread9315 Yes, that is what we are told. However, how the show decided to portray that completely goes against what they're telling us. We see zombie so far behind them that it doesn't look like they're in any real danger. They could stop and have full conversations before needing to run. Again, they had plenty of time to fight on the ground before the zombies even got close.

Shane risked both their lives on a gamble that his gunshot would attract all the zombies to ottis not thinking about if any zombies would be attracted to the noise behind the fence possibly dooming them both when before that moment they were both walking at the same pace as the walkers whom of which of been stopped by the fence and both could have lived

Shane's inability to read the goddamn room was the problem. Literally my biggest problem with Shane as a human being, and why I cannot call him entirely right, is because he sexually assaulted and almost raped Lori after she made it very, very clear that she wanted nothing to do with him after Rick returned.
@ogcipher49675 ай бұрын
One of my biggest gripes with the show (when it was good, the good ol' days) was the way they treated Shane, inventing new shit that wasn't in the comics to make him seem like a worse person. Pretty sure that in the comics (it's been years since I've read them so I could be wrong) Shane didn't tell Lori that Rick was dead, so this entire bullshit with her blaming him that he lied wasn't a thing, which really changes the dinamic.
@teroknor1377 Жыл бұрын
Ridiculous take on the Shane/Otis interaction. Shane and Otis BOTH recognized that they were in a no-win scenario with the Zombies closing in. Shane was injured and told Otis to leave him behind and Otis refused to do so, not wanting another death/injury on his conscience. Shane knew that would mean they both would die because of a lack of ammo, so made the only choice available to him so that Carl would survive. The guy offered Otis the out, Otis didn't take it. Otis was responsible for Carl's condition, so if he was going to die anyway why not use him as bait so one of them could get out? Framing it in the way you did completely cements over the reality of the situation, and makes me think you didn't rewatch this before making the video.
@RJLiams7 ай бұрын
This is a case where the show did not represent the situation it was telling us. Shane and Otis were constantly far away from the horde. Had enough time to stop and talk about their situation. Even had enough time to fight on the ground for several minutes. The show tells us there was no hope. However, it's showing us that was a lie.

this isnt a debate they literally told us this in season 9 during ricks flashback lmaooo. The only people who debate it are actually dumb. Hell they tell us shane was right when rick stabs shane (tho its much less obvious). Rick literally days “damn you for making me do this! This was you not me!” That was Rick saying he can do what shane can do but thats its not him its not sho he wants to be and we see this rick in season 3. He was shane crazy and didnt like it so he fought back in to sanity to himself for season 4 but became shane again after the fall of the prison and when carl is almost assaulted

His core idea of survival was right however him turning out like that so quick was mostly because he was on edge and going crazy over if he should forget lori or kill rick to keep her making him highly stressed and radical and if he kept that up he would have gotten most of them killed to save lori and carl if needed. thats not survival for the group its his obsession with lori taking over.

He should leave the group when he got the chance but Carl got shot that's why he don't want leave. “What Would Be Your Version If Chi-Chi Continued Her Training & Became A Z-Fighter?” - I absolutely hate that Toriyama put her behind and didn't make her a Z-Fighter. She had the most potential out of any other human on earth - more than Krillin, Tien or Yamcha. Imagine how much she could accomplish if she trained alongside Goku; maybe even mastering Kaio-Ken better than him, since she'd have to rely on it more than he would. As well as drinking the ultra divine water by Karin, having her hidden powers unlocked by Grand Elder Guru, and eventually bringing out her latent abilities by Old Kai. With her entire potential unleashed and her mastery of the Kaio-Ken, she'd be more than capable to enter the Tournament of Power. What do you think of Chi-Chi training with Krillin, Tien, Yamcha and Chiaotzu for the year, while Piccolo trains Gohan? While Goku recovers in the hospital, Chi-Chi goes to Korin to drink the ultra divine water and has Goku train her in the Kaio-Ken during their trip to Namek - where she eventually has her hidden powers unlocked by Grand Elder Guru. But she doesn't have her latent abilities brought out by Old Kai until the Tournament of Power saga. Chi-Chi would also train with Goku and Gohan in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, because the Cell in this universe would also have her DNA (and have the ability to tap into the Kaio-Ken). Chi-Chi would even help Goten and Videl with their martial arts and ki training.
