I'm not a Canadiens fan (I'm a Leafs fan) but my neighbor is a really kind 90 year old man named Bob who is a huge Canadiens fan who I have coffee with a couple times a week. I was so excited that they got the #1 pick so they can draft this guy he looks really good! I told him about the #1 pick and that they drafted this guy and he was really excited! He said "Good maybe he can come in and teach these other guys how to put the puck in the net!". He's such a great man, I went over to tell him about the draft and he was wearing his Canadiens jersey and I just so happen to be wearing my Leafs jersey cause we won last night. He said "You're always welcome over here but leave that jersey at home!". I watch every Leafs vs Canadiens game with him, when Montreal wins he rubs it in my face and when the Leafs win he says "I didn't expect that to happen! Get out of here!" haha. I love sports for that reason, even though there's more than 60 years between us we are both such huge fans of our teams that we have a blast watching the games together! Congrats to the Canadiens for getting this amazing prospect!

I think the intriguing thing is Wright's feelings towards Arizona. Slafkofsky and Nemec play different positions to Wright, but in taking Cooley at #3 Arizona stated that Wright wasn't even the best centre in the draft, let alone the best player.. I'm looking forward to a rivalry developing between Wright and Cooley more than Wright and Slafkofsky

@@rayfeighery3245 Go look at the scoring leaders for this year's World Championship. Not the Junior ones. Look at the names on that board. And please try to say again that Slafkovsky isn't NHL ready. He's the 3rd best U18 PPG in history at the WC (Auston Matthews as an underager at the WC in his draft year, for example, had 8 points in 9 games. Slaf had 9 points in 8 game). That's while playing against lots of NHLers. He had more points than Hischier, more points than Barzal and Anderson, while playing for a much weaker Slovak team. I hope Shane Wright gets the wake-up call that he needs from this, but I'm not sure the NHL ready player is the one that you think. Shane underdelivered in junior hockey this year. Slaf crushed it at a higher level. (Hlinka cup, Olympics, WC, all higher caliber than the OHL, and he was carrying the Slovak team on his shoulders)

Wright is a playmaker, not a sniper. He will be the 2nd center and will not play on the same line as Caufield. Hughes and Gorton have to go get a quality sniper to power it up. Hoffman, Gallagher or Drouin do not meet the criteria for a 2nd line.

He’s likely capable of more offense but what’s the point. He’s playing a 200 ft game. He has skill galore, that’s pretty easy to see, how many people can shoot the puck like that? He’s smart enough to know there’s more to the game then that. Does anyone doubt he could’ve scored another 10-20 goals this season? I’m pretty sure he could have. He’s steady, plays a balanced game and could be smarter then most on the ice. As far as being arrogant, there’s lots of talk about maybe he shouldn’t be number one overall. Pretty sure he’s heard it. The interview was pretty casual, he said he thinks he deserves to go number one over all. He answered the question. Will he some day look back on it and cringe? Maybe so. These guys are teenagers. Give him some slack. Remember when Gretzky called the New Jersey devils a Mickey Mouse organization? Pretty sure he regretted saying that. I don’t know Shane wright at all, but my guess is he knows that scoring 50-60 goals a season isn’t worth it if you’re costing your team, and what does that prove, and why/who does he have to prove it to? An nhl career can be long, it can be short, and I don’t mind players playing smart, players who aren’t bashing their skulls all over the ice to try and prove something. Maybe he has the long view in mind. Nick Suzuki, never missed a game due to injury. How smart is that? Pretty smart. Having Suzuki and wright as centres, habs are damn lucky. Great vision and high levels of skill both of them. They may not make you jump out of your seat every time they step on the ice but they aren’t going to lose the game for you either. They both know how to pick their spots. Habs are set with these two.

This kid is too arrogant and selfish. He thinks, he´s world champion before he even show something at men level. He is not mature yet, his confidence was at sky level, and finally he is not even at top 3 of draft. Habs made good decision, Slafkovsky and Wright are both exceptional players, but Juraj is good person too, about Shane we cant say that.

@@brycefrancisco9361 To be fair, I honestly thought Wright would have been a better fit for Montreal considering the franchise and the fans, the city, the way he plays, etc......and I thought so even after they drafted Slafkosvky...that is until Wright gave this immature crybaby pissed off look at the Habs table when he got drafted....Clearly his agent told him to clean up his act after that, but honestly, as devastating not being drafted first after being told you'd be drafted first since you were 15 must be like, reacting like he did was a pathetic unfortunate indication of this kid lack of maturity...and don't get me wrong, it's okay to lack maturity when you are 18, but maybe it has something to do with so many teams refusing to draft him. I know it must be rough, but the kid should take a good look in the mirror and ask himself how he screwed up this bad. Cooley was drafted before him, that should tell him a lot. That being said, I wish the kid all the success he'll get if he learns a little bit about humility. I think that considering the situation, Seattle may be the best possible place for him. Again, I really was convinced he was the right player for Montreal......until he gave that stupid spoiled kid look at Montreal's table when he got drafted........Come on kid, all but 3 players will get drafted after your...and a lot of kids won't even be drafted. Heck, St-Louis was on stage. The guy never was drafted and still managed to have a spectacular career. You don't get to have a temper tantrum because you weren't drafted first if you want to be a leader...that's my opinion anyway...but again, I really loved the guy and hell, when a trade was announced including Montreal I really sincerely thought the team would get both players and I was thrilled about it...now I'm kinda glad it didn't happen. I know that the kid has plenty of time to grow up, and I hope he will, but right now his entitled attitude reminds me of Nail Yakupov...which truly is a terrible thing.
