(Google translate) Stage Dolls is a Norwegian rock band based in Trondheim. The group was founded by Torstein Flakne, who had previously had great success in the pop band The Kids. The band was inducted into the Rockheim Hall of Fame in 2018. Current members Torstein Flakne: vocalist, guitarist (1983-) Terje Storli: bassist (1983-) Morten Skogstad: drummer (1993-) Former members Erlend Antonsen: drummer (1983-1985) Steinar Krokstad: drummer (1985-1993) After failing to be signed by a record company, the band released their debut album Soldier's Gun with their own funds in 1985. The music album was later nominated for the Spellemannprisen. The follow-up album Commandos (1986) came the following year on the Grappa label.[2] In 1987, the band signed a record deal with the American record company Big Times Records and were thus launched internationally.[3] The self-titled third album Stage Dolls came in 1988. The release was followed by a tour in the USA. The tour poster was fronted by the slogan "Twenty Feet Norwegian Rock", and the band gained placement on the US Billboard chart with the single Love Cries, which reached number 46.[4] The same single was all the way up to 3rd place on the Billboard Rock Charts.[5] After three years, the fourth album Stripped (1991) was released. The album was characterized by simpler arrangements, less synthesizer and a sound image that was closer to how the band sounded at concerts. Flakne had collaborated with the American lyricist Bobby Icon on the album. The single "Love Don't Bother Me" was remixed by American music producer Ron Nevison.[6] The rest of the decade marked a quieter period for the band. In 1993, the compilation album Stories We Could Tell was released, and the band employed Morten Skogstad as permanent drummer. The compilation album sold well, but also came at a time when musical trends were changing. Interest was declining for the type of radio rock that the Stage Dolls played.[7][8] In the mid-1990s, the band was temporarily disbanded. Flakne released the solo album Shoot the Moon, while Storli started a booking agency.[8] The band got back together in 1997, but experienced little interest around the release of their fifth studio album Dig. Although Dig was not a huge sales success[9] the reunion showed that the band was still productive. In the preparations for the album recording, Flakne had written close to 30 new songs.[10] In the 2000s, the band experienced renewed interest. The compilation album Good Times - The Essential Stage Dolls came in 2002 and was a sales success. In 2004 came a new studio album, Get a Life (2004), where they continued with a sound image inspired by classic American radio rock. This time too, the old collaboration partner Marc Spiro was involved in the project, among other things as co-composer and chorister (long distance).[11] The album Always was released on 4 January 2010, more than five years after their previous album Get a Life, and 25 years after the band's debut album. The album went straight to the top of the VG-list in week 2.

Honey, I only know maybe 3 songs...the one I requested (Love Cries), this one, and something else! Haven't heard this for years and it's still pleasant....and I still want to peg them as some kind of Nordic Gene Loves Jezebel/Bon Jovi hybrid..... The highlight for me, though: "Is that Flea???" 😹

Love your channel, Shane! You might want to check out another Norwegian band, Spidergawd. Mr. Flakne, singer and guitarist in Stage Dolls, does backing vocals on their single "At Rainbows End" from last year. Catchy tune, like this one from Stage Dolls, but on the heavier side musically.

Upon looking up this band. Relatively new to me as well. It looks like the singer Torstein Flakne put out a solo album called Shoot the Moon. It's kind of Country/Melodic Rock. He's got a good voice though. I will say this band would not have been of any interest to me back in the day. Today I kind of am starting to like them.

Although I like me some 80s style hair band music, even ballads, this one just kind of nodded me off to sleep. meh. Good on Caroline, not picking on the request, just like other Stage Dolls stuff I've seen and heard better.
