My husband and I (Minnesotans) saw Fargo in the theater and couldn't stop laughing on our way home because we kept hearing our own accents and colloquialisms while talking about the film. It made us aware of it. I'd always assumed we didn't have a regional accent. Little did I know. I have to add that the topography of Minnesota is really varied and stunning. So much more than flat farm fields. Beautiful state.

I’m glad to hear that. LOVE THE TRIVIA! DONT EVER GET RID OF IT! That is something that sets you apart from others in this KZbinrverse. Your videos are long enough for an in depth, fun reaction, providing more insight than most others who simply watch a film, give their opinion, and end of video. Or others videos are way too long... not many people can commit to watching an hour+ long reaction in their busy schedules. Keep it up!

The scene with Mike also helps moves the plot forward, because once she realizes that he completely lied about being married, it makes her think back to her meeting with Jerry and makes her suspicious of him. Adore this movie. Really appreciate that you do the trivia bit at the end of each reaction. It’s a great way to learn more about the films. I actually wish more reactors would do stuff like that. A couple of things about Fargo that are cool to know as well: the actress who played the wife of William H. Macy isn’t the same woman who has a hood on her head in the rest of the film. That’s an extra since it cost less money to pay an extra to wear a sheet on their head. Also, there’s one distinct parking lot scene where you can see no snow in the distance since they used artificial snow in most scenes. Just a slip-up on their part.

Luckily he is the most prepared hiker/biker/camper ever. Afterwards he said he still had a couple pieces of clothing that he hadn't used yet, but some of the other people were hurting. And they were filming this movie at the same time. What a hoot! Oh, he didn't actually know how cold it was because their thermometer stopped at -30F - probably a mercury one. Mercury goes solid at -40 so the thermometer is not doing well at -30F.

One of the best movies ever! I love how the criminals are all so amazingly stupid. Jerry pays ex cons with a car that can be traced back to where he works. He's paying them $40k to pick up a bag with a million dollars in it. The kidnappers forget to put their tags on their car. Carl thinks he's being smart by stealing plates from another car, but then chooses a place that probably has cameras and then makes a huge scene with the toll gate guy to make sure he is clearly remembered. It goes on and on. The only smart character in the story, besides Margie, is Jerry's kid who asks all the questions that the adults should be asking. It's total Keystone cops!

For some reason the style of this movie always reminds me of an old detective mini movie series called "Columbo". Just that knowing the criminal in advance, affable sleuth, criminal slipping up, etc etc etc. Good series if you ever have the time!

I love this movie. It's my favorite Coen Brothers film next to O Brother Where Art Thou. Franny Mc is insanely good; so is William H. Macy. I love how almost every scene with Marge and Norm together involves eating. The two of them are comedy gold.

Not sure how interested you are in TV, but the Fargo TV show is absolutely amazing. The first two seasons especially. It's not like a remake or anything of this movie, it's just new stories told in this kind of dark, comedic, Fargo-y way. Truly, truly some of the best TV of the last decade, however. Highly recommend to check out in your personal time.

Fargo is a wonderful movie from the Coen Brothers . Another is the b&w film noir, The Man Who Wasn’t There. It stars Billy Bob Thornton, James Gandolfini and Scar Jo.

As a big Coen fan, I can only recommend you to watch all of them, even the few duds I wasn't that impressed with (Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers). And watch them in order to see their progress in filmmaking, even if they started strong with Blood Simple (and yes, Frances McDormand was in that too almost 40 years ago). If you twist my arm to recommend one, it has to be Miller's Crossing from 1994, even if Frances only has a small uncredited role. It has people that have become standard cast of the Coens, like Steve Buscemi, John Turturro and Jon Polito. But the real star is the late Albert Finney who has his most badass movie moment before lighting up his cigar in the street. I'm vague to avoid spoilers. But the movie is mostly about hats, according to the Coens. :)

@donkfail...really enjoyed watching "Millers Crossing"...its one of those movies which would fall under the category of "if you had the whole week-end and you had to pick 5 and only 5 movies to watch " Millers Crossing would be on that list and of course "Fargo"..

While I generally consider 'No Country for Old Men' as my favorite film of all time, I actually think 'Barton Fink' might be my favorite Coen brothers film. I was lucky enough to see every film from 'Blood Simple' to 'The Man Who Wasn't There' in theaters on their initial release, but have actually missed a few of the later ones, that I need to catch up on, especially 'A Serious Man' and 'Burn After Reading'. Love to see people react to this one.

@@jksgameshelf3378 I think Barton Fink remains their masterpiece, kind of the key to everything they made before and have made since, while No Country is their most purely cinematic work. Of their movies since No Country, A Serious Man is easily the best and one of the finest of their entire filmography, and I can strongly recommend Inside Llewyn Davis as well. But really, there's no Coen movie that isn't worth watching at least once.

Glad you enjoyed the film so much. It's a true classic. Check out the Coen Bros.' earlier film "Miller's Crossing" (1990), a masterful gangster-themed period piece. Buscemi appears in that one too.

I definitely love the trivia part of your videos. We Minnesotans found the accents a bit overdone, but the Coen Brothers are from here so they know what they’re doing. I love seeing the old Wally McCarthy dealership where Jerry worked and the old Minneapolis skyline.

I grew up in Manitoba. Across the border, about 200 miles North of Fargo. And have driven thru Minnesota lots too. Stayed both places a few times... I found the accents to b a little 'over-pronounced' as well. At least in the small sample sizes I've seen/ heard... it made the movie more unique and standout more tho...

I grew up in a rural area with lots of farmland. It really does get like that in the winter. Just a flat, white void in every direction. No protection from the wind, so snow is blowing in front of you, all over the road, and it keeps pushing your vehicle, so you're constantly compensating for that. Luckily it's also a perfectly straight, very level stretch of road, but it could be terrifying in the winter.

As computer programmers we often use code names for projects while they are in development. One extensive data processing application I worked on took in data from a variety of sources and created a single stream of combined data to be inserted into a massive database. It's code name was "Trapper." But as often happens last minute changes were demanded and the single stream became first a handful and then a dozen or more streams of data coming out the bottom of the process. After seeing the movie _Fargo_ one of the programmers noted that our clean and efficient application had become a "bloody mess" much like the wood chipper from the movie. After that the development team began to refer to the project as "Chipper."
