It's a background detail in the GotG movies, but that little figurine Peter gives Yondu at the end was indeed originally seen on the dash of Yondu's ship. And it becomes more touching that it kicked off Yondu's habit of collecting little tchotchkes to put on his dash, which were later used to surround him during his funeral. Just another subtle bond between "daddy" and son.

Cosmo the space dog cameod in the first two Guardians movies not yet voiced or exhibiting her telekinesis. Comic Cosmo is male, but as you saw from the trivia, they made her female to harken back to the real life inspiration Mantis being Quill’s sister was actually gonna be revealed during the end of Vol 2, but the scene was cut Oh yeah, we get confirmation The Collector is still alive. We saw a Reality Stone illusion of him in Infinity War, but never the real one, so we didn’t know if Thanos had killed him or not

4:46 Cosmo is voiced by Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova, who’s also taking on a big role in Creature Commandos (2024), the first project in James Gunn’s new DCU. Highly recommend Creature Commandos, really fun animated series and you can jump into it with zero insight into the DC universe or past films, shows etc. The reason why Creature Commandos is the first project in this new DC universe is because it's the first project Gunn finished writing before becoming the head of DC Studios. He then decided to reboot everything, thus giving rise to a new universe. Superman (2025) a movie that already has 43 million views on it's KZbin teaser alone in 5 days is going to be the big start of the DCU. Kind of like how Iron Man kick started the MCU. Unlike the MCU the DCU will be a reality already home to active heroes. It would be like if Iron Man (2008) had Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men and the Fantastic Four active in the background of the film, showing that Tony exists in a greater universe. But yeah, Maria Bakalova is amazing in Creature Commandos, and you'll find many actors who you'll know from other James Gunn projects, many of them will also return to play their live action counterparts as well, since Creature Commando is animated but will most likely see these characters in live action played by the same person.

In early 2009, I worked at a company called, "Music Choice", where they broadcast all types of musical genres on paid cable channels. One of the many perks was random musicians passing by and would roam the office hallways into the green room. One time, I got to witness Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael who are known as the Bacon Brothers there at Music Choice with their guitars promoting a CD album they were releasing.

*Groot looks different than he did in the first Guadian movie is not just the CGI techniques but also due to him having a complete different design because the offshoot that grew from the OG Groot is NOT a clone of it: This Groot is OG Groot’s son (Confirmed by James Gunn). So just like people’s children don’t look exactly like their parents, similar but not the same, Groot Jr. is different from Groot Sr. (One way that he is different is that he is much more buffed while his dad was much more slim!)*

Such a sweet little taste of the Guardians for the holidays. Loved this when I watched it the first time, it's a good tease for Guardians Vol. 3, which will take a while to get to but is equally amazing. If you want to hear Kevin Bacon playing guitar and sing some more, he has a band with his brother Michael called The Bacon Brothers. I first saw them on an old episode of Live From Daryl's House, where Daryl Hall of Hall & Oats would invite musical acts to his house for a meal and songs. It's a good time.

The story of Laika is tragic, so i'll not tell it here. But some fun stuff: She wasn't actually a mid-sized dog, like Cosmo; she was a street mutt more akin to a rat terrier in size. Laika means "Barker" in Russian. In the Hawkeye comics, Kate Bishop wears a shirt that says "Laika" with a stylized dog graphic; she also wears the shirt in the series (but you can only really make it out for a brief moment); the shirt can be found for purchase online (or used to be) and i have one.😁

Kevin Bacon is in fact a great singer, he and his brother actually are actually country music singers. They have a song and video called Guilty of the crime, with country artists The Bellamy Brothers and the video stars them and Shannon Doherty. And if you were wondering which guitar he plays in the special, it’s a Taylor brand, though not sure of the model.
