This song always brings back a specific memory. My first apartment... I had friends over for some beers and this song came on the radio. We were inebriated so we started singing "Row Slide" (instead of Slow Ride) and laughing hysterically. Inevitably... I think of that every time I hear this tune. In any case... it's a fun tune to play. You're 100% right about that audience head bop.

Great Lesson! Back in 78' when Life had it's own soundtrack that played in my head and I ran the 2 mile on the high school track team - this song would start about lap 6 and taught me how to push through the hard laps. To this day, at 59, it still pops into my head and is helping me to run farther while getting the rhythm right! Thanks for the Great Lesson!

Shane your university videos are currently the best foundational lessons going ! Nice and easy to follow, perfect speed for all players. I'm always amazed at how many CBG builders can't play a lick.. Well here is their chance ! Three lessons so far that are building on fundamentals. Glad you aren't sending everybody to patrion for the FULL lesson. Will support the channel with one of your awesome jack knife slides ! Waiting for Friday now like a kid waits for Christmas ! Love C.B.Gitty and your University lessons....and that Gittybucker !!! It is so cool that you live next to Bob Trowe from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. This lesson was slowed down so well that I was able to find a method of using my thumb to mute while playing one handed. I can get the rhythm down just trying to get the riff filled out to complete the song now. Thank you Shane Speal for another great lesson.

When I was a kid,a guy named Floyd Link ran the Skelly station. Flattop haircut and a Foghat button on his shirt. Now my wife says I need a Stubby Slide and she needs a slow ride. I imagine you had a great time knowing Bob Trove who played Bob Dog,but you make this difficult for an old blind man such as I. Thankfully I see a bit and my ears and fingers are excellent!

Loving the fact that you are doing it slow, (seems an appropriate song for that technique). I tend to lean towards slow blues and with time I may actually be confidant enough to sit in on some jams. Meanwhile I'm learning enough that I can amuse myself. Keep it up you have a good thing going here. Particularly for us old farts.

What was Bob Trowe like? Did you recognize him from tv at the time?
@ShaneSpeal3 жыл бұрын
He was a true Renaissance man. Most people didn't know he was also a woodworker and built the entire Neighborhood of Make Believe. When he moved in next to me, he built his own A frame house from the ground up. He had a big koi pond up front. At one point, he was recording a TV commercial for Hills department store and he borrowed my bicycle for it. I was only 5-7 years old when I lived next to him.
