Five years and this video is still relevant and informative. Love your tutorials. The videos are brilliant and have helped me overcome some big hurdles as I build my apps. Question: How do I get a search box to sort through the "all" option of a DropDown filter? I built a drop down filter to sort my data by department and I included an "all" option to show all employees. I then created a search box to sort through the names of employees, based on the drop down selecdtion. Everything works great, except for when I select "all". The search box then stops working.

Trying to search on more than one field. Code is: SortByColumns(Filter([@'Associates and Numbers'], StartsWith('Last Name', TextSearchBox1.Text)), "Title", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending)) Tried to add each field in double quotes with comma. It all blows up if I add one more field. Built from blank template not using wizard. Help! Want to add Title, First Name, Last Name, Number.

Hi Shane, is it possible on the search field to ignore a hyphen? example: on the data you have "ABC-100" but i will only type "ABC100" on the search field and it can still search/filter it?

I already have quite a few lines of code in the "Items" property of my gallery like Sort and Filter functions, I can't work out how to combine this with Search! Thinking of making another screen with the same gallery and have it reference that gallery but the results will probably not appear in the one I want. Oh dear lol

Usually it is like Sort(Search(filter(filter criteria), serach criteria), sort criteria)

A couple of thoughts Zach. 1 - There is a newer version of this video, since this one was 4 years old. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oorMY2eloL13htU 2 - What kind of issues are you having? Getting Excel data in at all or just using Search inside the Excel? Remember, Excel is not a delegable data source, so you will only be able to search up to the delegable row limit.

Great, Shane, thanks for the video. Your channel is my #1 source goodness/troubleshooter to go to for all things PowerApps... Shane, is there a way to implement/ enable search from one Search Box across multiple galleries within one PA. The source file is Excel with multiple worksheets represented as multiple pages of PA containing respective galleries sourced from the worksheets of the mother-Excel file. Thanks heaps, my head is hurting.. I just cant work out the way...

I think so. Set the all of the galleries to use the search function with the input being the TextInput.

Oh okay. Thanks for that. I'll check it out. But also I want to ask why it feels like it's slow sometimes for the data to load especially when I'm doing something that has to do with relationship like one to many or one to one relational modelling. Is that just normal or I'm the one writing buggy functions
