So, last night I saw Shang-Chi and while I loved the movie, it was a ton a fun, I was a bit disappointed that there was no DIRECT Iron Fist reference in the movie - I wasn’t expecting anything, but I thought it would have been neat to nod toward that part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we do expect Matt Murdock to appear in some capacity during Spider-Way: No Way Home and i know, i know - Charlie Cox said that his forearms are not in the trailer, but if they were his forearms he couldn’t confirm it regardless due to the NDA he surely signed, but anyway - after leaving the theater, I thought about it a bit more, and honestly there was a pretty strong connection to Iron Fist within Shang-Chi that is consistent with the lore of the television show. That being the mystical city of Ta Lo

Iron fist is without a doubt my singular favorite marvel comics character, it’s a shame how dirty they did him in the mcu. In the comics he has knocked out skaar, colossus, hurt the hulk, and knocked out Hercules with a BLAST…he’s actually a decent top tier.

@Just Dark They're not. Just because two Netflix characters appeared in a movie while the other in a show, it doesn't mean that Netflix show are actually canon. Not to mention that it was announce that the show will be a reboot, which means that they will not continue with the events left in these shows. Think about it. If they really wanted to continue the shows, they'll just ended up giving the credits to Netflix since they're the ones that made those shows and Marvel just borrow their characters. And since their deal is over got their characters back, the most reasonable thing is to start from zero with each characters. Not just for Iron Fist, but every character that weren't handled well. Not to mention that the actor Mahershala Ali (the same actor that plays Cottonmouth in Luke Cage) was casted as Blade in the MCU. And since they're bringing Blade to the MCU and not just some random alternate reality, how they will explain that a vampire hunter looks like the crimelord from Harlem?

If you notice the yellow energy from Shang-Chi's rings and I believe his mother was also a gift from the Dragon. It's looks similar to the Chi that the Iron Fist wields, which would make sense because it's both from Dragons.

I feel exactly the same, that’s why I’m kinda worried about Charlie Cox potentially appearing, because if they retroactively canon-ise the Netflix shows (which I think would be stupid because they would add very little to the universe and it would be better to just create new stuff) then the Iron Fist show and all the terrible changes, writings and numerous mis-characterisations would also be canon and a lot harder to rectify in the future

@@callumgordon4064 Marvel, more specifically Kevin Fiege, have stated that the Netflix shows are not apart of the MCU. So when it comes to reintroducing Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the MCU, they are going to do a soft reboot with the character. I’m just happy that they’re bringing back Charlie Cox as Daredevil. He was easily the best part of the Netflix series. I also enjoyed Jessica Jones and apparently so did Kevin Fiege because there has been a lot of talk about bringing Krysten Ritter back as Jessica Jones.

Another reference is the conversation with Wenwu. He says he has many names. One is Master Khan. That's an old Iron Fist enemy and a guy who was banished from Kun Lun. Perhaps part of Wenwu's history, and the reason the people of Ta Lo rejected him, is that they know he was banished from Kun Lun already. This would obviously be in addition to his conquering ways as depicted in the movie.

I feel like there’s a big chance Iron Fist could return… Blade cameo credits scene eternals, Matt Murdock leak (Spider-Man no way home leak), Moon Knight movie, Sony Morbius film coming out, Rumors Disney want Nic cage to come back for ghost rider, Black Knight eternals ending credits. It’s seems like they could make a Midnight Sons movie! The line up would be insane: Blade, Black Knight, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange, Morbius, Iron Fist and Punisher shit could even add in Scarlett Witch. I say Iron Fist and Punisher because if they brought back Daredevil for Spider-Man they have a chance to come back. Their comic counter parts were also members of Midnight Sons.

Honestly, at the risk of being cruel, when I imagine Simu Liu's Shang-Chi and Finn Jones' Iron Fist teaming up I picture Shang-Chi kicking ass all over the place while Danny gets dogpiled by evil ninjas and spends a solid minute tensing his entire body like he has to take the world's biggest crap while angrily begging his fist to light up. That character seriously needs a head to toe reboot if he ever makes it back on screen.

I didn't know there was rumours to recast Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Do u got a link to 'em? Also I'd be REALLY sad to see Mike Colter go. He is SO GOOD as Luke Cage. I'd be sad to see Finn Jones go as Iron Fist as well, I personally enjoyed him in Luke Cage Season 2 and Iron Fist Season 2, as well as a part of The Defenders. He could be pretty unbearable in Season 1 but that was also due to _really_ bad writing. Still, if the rumours are true about Finn not being willing to learn all of the choreography... That's really disappointing. If they don't recast him I hope that he steps up his game if he's coming into the mainline MCU.

I really wished they went all the way with the Defenders and Punisher. The way I see it, they basically went with Charlie's Daredevil already so really, it seems fitting to give the entire Defenders the same treatment and of course, The Punisher as well. Jon is Frank Castle.

@@PranavVuppala that's not his entire fault, either. Finn did all he could in the short amount of time he's given by Netflix. Apparently, because they're so eager to release the Defenders, they have to rush the production for Iron Fist season 1. That's why on the 2nd season of Iron Fist, his performance improved. He had more time to work on it. And by the way, his cameo in Luke Cage, is the best. Really sold it to me that with a better writing, he could pull a really good Danny Rand/Iron Fist.

I heard somewhere (which could be complete bs) that The Actress playing as Colleen in The Netflix Iron Fist Show, was meant to make an appearance in Shang-Chi, further cementing that fact that The MCU Netflix Shows or at least a soft reboot of sorts was CANON in the overall MCU Films & Disney+ - Marvel Studios Proper Continuity. However the details of the matter & why she wasn't in the film, I heard was that she wasn't comfy with it as she thinks her story as Colleen would be in a future project and wasn't ready to bear the sword just yet. Now again this could be complete bs someone had made from where I gained this info, but if this is true I somewhat get where she is coming from via a creative point of view as an Actress in these Arts and the story she is portraying in that degree, in it of herself. However. Acting as a job can be extremely difficult, especially when getting work so to say No from another point of view kinda comes off like... wtf lol its a job just take it, especially if its MARVEL STUDIOS themselves, the big leagues. Another theory I have is that recently or more accurately a year or so "recently" the Actress playing Colleen had "recently" been apart of that new Matrix movie and most likely said these things to Marvel Studios & The Public etc in order to not offend or cut ties with Marvel Studios due to scheduling Conflicts, since she was kinda making a massive production level Film. Idk. Its all very interesting to learn about. Whats true, what isnt. Oh well. I guess we will see...

So maybe they have similar trajectories, but things like Infinity War or CIVIL war was never specifically mentioned. So perhaps a divergece of events occurred. This is simply a theory though, just got a feeling like Feige whould want to reinvent the wheel, to make the Netflix shows more to MCU's tone.

Didn't care for the story told in the shang chi film. ancient Chinese fantasy element was unnecessary. Could have kept thed story more grounded. Shown the exact reach and power of the Mandarin and his criminal organization. Especially since it was alluded to in that short film with trevor slattery that the real Mandarin was indeed out there, was aware of the fact that other criminals were pretednding to be him, and did hold a lot of power in the criminal world for eons. When shang chi comics first appeared the character was kinda sorta a cross between Bruce Lee and James bond who took on the criminal underworld. I think that the original spy Acton drama concept of shang chi, could have fitted better. Honestly, Finn Jones is a pretty chill actor and as shown with Luke Cage, he can play a more relaxed version of Danny Rand like in the comics. It’s just the material he was given treated him like an impulsive thundering dumbass in the other shows.

If you read the comics, you know that is not the case. In the comics, Iron Fist is actually pretty cool and is one of the top fighters, second only to Shang Chi.

@@cmleibenguth Yeah he's the second closest to shang chi in terms of martial arts but the netflix show make him into whiny child who begged for his fist to light up and they make him lose to Daredevil lol don't get me wrong Daredevil is good at fighting his acrobatic style combine with his highten senses make him a formidable foe but he nowhere near kungfu level shit and yet Danny can barely fight him like WTF and his iron fist is like so low budget (they don't even bother to show how he even got it). Say what you want about hulk but at least the previous MCU movie establish him as pretty accurate to the comic on the other hand netflix straight up making him into a joke in his first origin show

I felt like he got better in Luke Cage season 2 and Iron Fist Season 2, honestly the only reason Iron fist failed was cause it was lead by poor direction, poor planning and choreography that should have been up to par with a martial arts film
