@thecsciworker2912 жыл бұрын
@@HHung-pg3iw The difference between Bolt and Tyson in '09 wasn't the 1-2m you saw. It was the difference of their accumulated efforts over the distance. So if Tyson (9.71) wanted to catch Bolt (9.58), he would need to be faster over the whole distance and not just "catch up to those 2m", or "start faster". What matters is your rate of acceleration, that is how much you accelerate to the running phase, your maintenance, and how little you decelerate towards the line. A better start for Tyson here just means he gets into position sooner. Which may or not impact his overall run (since he expended more energy) which is what matters.
@HHung-pg3iw2 жыл бұрын
@@thecsciworker291 the hundredths of a second matters. If he was faster from the blocks maybe his starting phase would have been faster. There's a difference between doing everything right and doing some things right. What saved him was his top end speed. You can offer as many scientific facts as you want but have you ever competed in a 100m race before? There's so much more than just facts. Unless you've been in a world class race with elite sprinters you can never understand how its like in the heat of a race.

Flamdros, Usain did run those fantastic sequence of times in the 2008 season:9.69, 9.72, 9.76 & 9.77, and although very impressive; he was injury free. I wish he hadn't showboated so much in those runs, particularly his 9.69 from Beijing as who knows what that time could have been had he run all out. Yet, I'm still more impressed with Gay's performances this season as he was running with an injury. I hope that the fantastic triumverate of Bolt, Gay & Powell will all be ready to roll in 2010.

Bolt might be the one with more talent than anybody else EVER..but I think tyson is absolutely the best one..never saw anyone run like him in this race..if he only had the height of Bot maybe Usain wouldn't be the WR holder

Do you even track? Asafa powell trains hard. He has to , to be able to compete at that level. Mental strenght is incredibly important at elite level sprinting, which he lacks and has admitted before. That is why you see him easing 9,72 in the past at smaller competitions, but barely brakes 9,9 in big finals.

@Rockandrope Exactly, Bolt runs fast times into headwind, while Gay runs fast with tailwind, no contest. Gay run's 9.69 here with +2.0, while Bolt ran 9.69 in Bejing in 0.0 wind even slowing down, beating his chest. How can they compare Gay with this guy.His 1st 200 race this yr was 19.56 into -0.8 wind, his 200m wr from 08 19.30 done in -0.3 wind,09 -0.9 wind, then suppose in a final he gets even a + 1.0 tailwind. Gay, although i he was think was rusty did 19.76 with +1.8 wind, beaten by Dix.

RAS09true, Tyson hasn't embellished about anything. He underwent successful groin surgery yesterday in Philadelphia and he should be able to resume training in about 5 to 6 weeks. The injury prevented him from accelerating more aggressively in his drive phrase. Bolt is number one, for now, no question; but to truly measure the depth of his performances are predicated on how healthy Gay & Powell are as I see that they are the only ones capable of beating him. Next season, bring it on...!

Do you know that Asafa has a pb in 200 at 19.90 done in 06.This tells me he has the potential to do really well if he trians for it,that's why I agree with his coach that he was a bit lazy,and him not running the 200 can actually be part of the reason for his failings on the big stage.if you look from 04,he's always beaten by guys that also run the 200 in wc and olympic finals,he always just seem to lose it or run out of gas.

I'm impressed with Gay's time and the manner in which he did it. Look how he blew past Asafa.! Incredible. Powell has one of the best starts in the business and had he been able to maintain his top end speed, we would be discussing him, not Tyson. However, maximum allowable wind or not, THIS WAS A 9.69.! Run at the end of the season; so give credit, it's due. What Gay does next season will determine if this race was a fluke or not. Reserve your judgements until then.
@torrepr15 жыл бұрын
The fastest record that Powell has done when it reaches maximum speed is 0.83 seconds per 10 meters which moves at a speed of 43,373 kph This register did it in Italy (2007) 9.74. Asafa Powell is noted for its excellent acceleration and great consistency to keep full speed in the last 30 or 40 meters of the race, but he is never one to reach higher speeds over Mo Greene, Donovan Bailey, even Carl Lewis , which in some segments of the race, all of them reached the same speed (43,373 kph)
