The guy at 0:33, who blows the kiss is actually me. I wasn't blowing a kiss at any of the judges, it was part of the song. I was singing, "Addicted To Love" by Robert Palmer and there's a line, "Another kiss is what it takes." I was just adding for effect. I love to do karaoke. All my friends and fans told me to audition, though I didn't think I'd make it to Hollywood. But I was 27 at the time and this would be my last chance and I figured I had nothing to lose, so why not give it a try. I sang for them but it didn't go well. They all rejected me. Simon said, "I think that was probably the worst we've heard in Chicago," OUCH! Shania said, "I think karaoke might be as high as you can go." Kara said, "I just don't think you're ready for this." They all had to say No. But I told them that I can live with the rejection and that it was a pleasure meeting them anyway. They all seemed happy that I took it like a man, knowing that was one less argument they would have to go through with a rejected singer. I didn't want to be seen on tv acting like a big baby for getting rejected. I think it didn't go well because I was nervous because I was singing for 4 famous people. To this day, I still can't believe I was face to face with them. These days, I figure maybe it's best I didn't make it. I'm not sure if that kind of life was for me anyway. Even if I had gone to Hollywood, I probably wouldn't have gone far. My girlfriend says that she doesn't think she could ever live in the spotlight and I love her more than anything. Of course, this was about a year before I met her. I still sing karaoke for fun, even though I'll never be a professional singer. I'm making a good living for myself. Besides, California may be a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. My brother agrees as he served in the Navy in San Diego and he said he wouldn't want to live in California, either.
