The Shania I knew and will always remember when we met and danced until closing time before she became a celebrity more than thirty years ago and I’ve been her devoted mystery man fan ever since

Cristiano how did you compile these videos of her early career? I know that Shania really wanted true success so she could take care of her family, but I somehow yearn for the days before Mutt brainwashed her with his weird New Age lifestyle and overproduced, over-enhanced recording style that I really think put a stress on her voice that she never prepared for. It's funny how life can do things like that, Mutt was the man Shania needed to help her dreams come true and to have her vision of country music fully realized, but yet it's sometimes sad to think about how people change in life and how we can never get back to the fresh-faced innocence that we all exude during the early years of adulthood, looking at life with a bright sense of hope. You can just see it in the way Shania handles the crowd, and engaging with everyone during the song. She looked so frozen on stage during those later years in arenas and football stadium. I truly don't think she ever prepared herself for a career that grand scale.

John Nader You do realize that it was SHANIA who has the final say in all her songs, and recorded them the way she wanted them to sound right? all Mutt did was produce them, and most certainly didn't brainwash her.

Hmm I think it's a little more complicated than that. I never doubted that Shania provided all of her own lyrics, but I definitely believe that Mutt was a complete taskmaster in the production of the album(s). You can listen to any of her albums and the attention to detail is staggering. I mean there isn't a single misplaced note, chord, or vocal nuance to be found in any of the songs, that's how clean it is. Yet, in UP! it became a little ridiculous. Some of the songs, particularly on the pop-oriented Red edition album, are almost robotic in perfection. I don't ever think he tried pushing her in a direction that she didn't want to go to, I'm just saying he edited her into a range that no sane performer could ever master in a multi-month global tour all the while dealing with voice issues that she probably had accrued over a lifetime since getting bitten by a tick back in the 80's. That's why I feel that the UP! tour is kind of what put her over the edge and made her take a break from recording although she did bounce right back and release the Greatest Hits album immediately in 2004. The woman was a freaking work horse.

The fame have a price. I changed a lot after having my own school. I will never be the same. I lost some innocence because the world was rude. She is a million times bigger than me. Imagine in her level. Shakira too. You can't be the same. The punches of the life change everybody.

John Nader She was actually bitten by the tick during the Up! tour in Virginia while horse back riding. Which caused the Lyme Disease and affected her singing there after.
