I think it's normal to think if Shanks and the giants thought each other was dead. Dorry and Broggy had no means of verifying if Shanks was alive since they were dueling in little garden. Even with the newspaper, It's hard to say whether the giants are able to read a tiny paper(Yes, I think it is valid) While Shanks... hmmm. When did Shanks meet Dorry and Broggy? Maybe during his time with the Roger Pirates? Since Shanks's birth till current timeline, Dorry and Broggy were still fighting (100+ years). So maybe for Shanks, he might have expected a victor out of the fight to death. Either Dorry or Broggy or even both. Just some thoughts about this. Great video btw :)

When you said "the Holy Knights need to have orders" it got me thinking - maybe that's why Kuma has been rushing to Marie Geoise despite his injuries. If he was programmed to be a Holy Knight, in some sort of prototype of the Pacifista but meant to protect the Tenryubito, orders might have come through in this post-Reverie mess to assemble the Knights and he's been forced to go. I'd prefer if it wasn't an evil twin, that just seems a little...random. Granted we had the amnesia trope in Wano, so Oda might just want to dust off some of the classics and repurpose them for his story. My old, old theory that Shanks is also Imu, via a split personality like Cavendish, could still hold some water, but scaled down so Shanks' other self is a Holy Knight. There has always seemed to be some indication that Blackbeard has more than one personality as well, and since Shanks and him have been presented as opposites but same in some regards, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch if they both shared that plot hook too. I feel like it's about as likely as the evil twin idea, at least.

Since Shanks may have visited them on Little Garden and saw them fighting to the death every day. Then they would have had little to no communication after that, and newspaper doesn't go to Little Garden. This is now their first time reuniting after the giants returned to Elbaf. You might be right though!

1.) Shanks is a member of God's Knights. Recruited probably in the same way Sanji was by his family. Coersion. 2.) Roger told Shanks he would be recruited by God's Knights once he made a name for himself. 3.) Shanks didn’t want to claim the One Piece because it would be fake as hell to claim the title of Pirate King while under the thumb of the Celestials. 4.) Shanks is going after the One Piece now because of the news from the reverie. The cover of the news paper is in the same chapter that Shanks decides to go after the One Piece. He plans to gather up the poneglyphs, join in the revolution, and when that's finished, claim the One Piece and fulfill his dream. 5.) Members of God's Knights have a great amount of autonomy, first because they are celestials themselves, and second, because their only duties are rarely required. Protecting Marie Jois which hasnt been attacked in ages, and settling disputes between the Celestials. This means the position does not impede with Shanks' life as a Pirate.

I'd also argue that Dragon's group is probably making their biggest moves whenever the Yonko are on the spotloght. The Marines are fighting against both the pirates and the revolutionaries. I don't think it would currently benefit Dragon to take out the Yonko cuz then the Marines would be able to focus all their efforts on Dragon instead of dividing their attention between the Rev and the Pirates. More or less anyway.

Good chapter review and great points :-)) In any case, from what we know about the One Piece World I guess the 20 Founding Royal Families of the World Government/Twenty Kingdoms including Arabasta (or Alabasta) and their Armies and the Holy Knights (or God's Knights) led by Imu including the Figarland family (and the World Nobles or Celestial Dragons being connected to God's Valley)/Affiliated nations fought against (VS) the (Ancient) Great Kingdom (including Zunesha and Wano), the three Ancient Weapons led by Joyboy and Nika (probably a subordinate military commander or general in the Great Kingdom's military) being connected to the Redline (since the Lunarians were said to live on it as gods) plus the (Ancient) Great Kingdom's Futuristic technology (see Egghead)/the Poneglyphs.

My theory is Shanks has mastered his observation haki to the point he can make time variants of himself past, present, and future. I also think Dak Sakes theory on the previous owner of Gekko Morias devil fruit had placed the shadow of one of the Holy Knights into Shanks is possibly accurate. That would probably explain why the silhouette looks like Shanks cause Shanks is originally a different person.

Here's a missed detail I noticed in Episode 45: When Mihawk visited Shanks, one of Shank's lackeys ran to report Mihawk to him. When the panicked lackey was about to report Mihawk, SHANKS GAVE HIM LIQUOR USING HIS LEFT HAND. i kind of think the idea of cutting off the WG food supply a bit silly. Its a very good strategy against human opposition but the WG has supernatural abilities and resources. Surely it would only be a minor convenience. Also, in order to maintain a siege, you need greater force. The WG has far, far superior warriors.
