Shanling M0 Review

Shanling's smallest player is almost as small as Apple's old iPod Nano, but features LDAC and APTx Bluetooth transmission. But is it easy to use?

Really like the size, a portable DAP should be small. And the M0 is like a souped up, super stylish Sansa Clip. Carrying around multiple phone sized devices is a drag, and the M0 ticks nearly every box for a truly portable DAP.

Are you able to shuffle full albums on this? Like listen to one album then it skips to another full album?

The tips I often use are SpinFit (for comfort) or JVC Spiral Dots (for sound quality). I'm organising a Solaris review indeed.

Do you know whether the Shanglin M0 music player is compatible with Sennheiser CX 400BT earbuds? On Sennheiser's page, it says that it's Bluetooth 5.1 compliant (class 1), whatever that means. As far as I understand, bluetooth compatibility issues are common.

All i got from this review was 'A better dap will sound better ' .I really wanted to know how it sounds ,what it sounds like, can it be tweaked or even what alternative daps i should look at .Size /cost, specs etc what power does it output

I only listen to music on the go on a portable rig and mostly in to uk indie bands, but I've got the cowboy junkies album the Trinity sessions Revisited and its a great album.

You should consider the SONY Walkman NW-A306 then. It's a big slow to start up but the quality and overall features are very good. Menu system is strong, plenty of EQ / upscaling options.

Does it sound better than the old iPod Classic? I just need a portable device that will fit nicely in my cycling jersey pocket with less bulk and sounds pretty decent and possibly have good bluetooth range so I don't always have to use wired ear pieces while riding.

If you're using wireless, you wont have to worry about sound quality, as that will be entirely dependent on the wireless earphones you use. I still have a 6th gen iPod floating around somewhere so I'll try and remember to compare them.

i have it, and there is a PO and LO function on this device, when i use LO, there's a huge problem after playing music for a while, it shuts off or hangs not sure if its only my device /:

Might have a memory leak. Try not in LO mode but just max the volume instead and see if that helps.

If you're playing a file, yes, but it's a bit buried. You swipe left on the playback screen, tap on the "+" to add it to a playlist and then on "•••" then on the trashcan icon. From the list of songs, there is a "Remove songs" option under the "•••" to the right of the track name.

@@zipias More so it is buried under the menu you'd use to add it to a playlist. It's a bit weird, and I have to say I didn't notice it when I went through the UI.

Gotta say, I don’t have the same level of annoyance with the UI. It’s not perfect, but it’s not that bad. And I’m not sure what issues you had with the digital out, but I connect it to a Mojo with no issues.

I'll try it again since there has been a firmware update. Seems some people don't like the UI and some people aren't bothered by it.

A smartphone + BT dongle IMO. The complaining is mostly in the hope that they take notice and do better.

I know a few people who owned the M0 and didn't like the UI. Also, it would be unreasonable to review a product and not explain how the sound quality is relative to other products, don't you think? Then people can make up their own mind.

@@Currawong I actually sold mine for the stuttering bluetooth connection. Audio is good but bluetooth connection is a downer.

I bought it and use it for an hour, impossible to upgrade the firmware, hiby 3 model is far better, this looks and feels cheap and feels cheap dont buy

How it feels cheap? M0 is great build quality.
