By default, when you use balanced output it will ONLY work in dual DAC mode same as Fiio dual DAC amps et al.

Do you think that these devices are more than enough to get the full potential of any iem? or is it necessary to buy those desktop dacs and amps that i have always seen stacked up in youtube videos? In my case I have the ikko itb03, and I use it on my desk and when I go out, but I don't know if it's enough

These are more than enough. You can squeeze out more performance with a nice desktop rig but it's only worth it if you have some high end iems or headphones.

I've always wondered how much more performance you can gain by stepping up to desktop components. How do you like the Ikko? Only thing holding me back is that I'd probably need to buy a balanced cable for my HD560S to get enough power.

KZbin Time Traveling 😁 Compared to the IFI Go Blue?? Yes, I’ve had one ( Go Blue) for quite some time and used it in both tethered to my iPhone and yes via Bluetooth 😁 This looks very good. Great review.

up4 22 is great for the price. my old up4 was not balanced left vs right, but also some other small things like turning on when connected to usb charging. was looking to buy a second up4 so i can listen without being tied to the charging, just use the backup when one goes out of battery. up4 22 was much improved and decided to buy a second up4 22 instead of trying to incorporate the old one. sound is, wouldnt say better, but it's a bit more lush. but i did notice treble is scratchy for mine, could be quality, but i dont mind as it only happens on high source volume it seems. but everything was just better. knob was slightly more buttery, the mode button feels better, and connection was somehow faster for me. that could just be my specific computer or whatnot. the electronics just felt slightly more responsive. some things must have been tweaked a bit since as mentioned, the old was doing stuff like turning on on usb connection. instead of up5 or other devices, i really like the value of 2 up4's

I prefer up4, mainly because it includes a balanced output. If you only use 3.5mm cables then either one sounds great.

Did you notice much of a difference in sound quality using the dual dac mode? I will be using DT 1770 Pro headphones with these. I am conscious of wasting battery life and I don't want to turn the dual dac or gain mode on if I don't have to.

I don't notice much of a difference with it and I don't use it myself because 1) I want to maximise battery life and 2) I use my UP4 for mobile and non-critical listening. The default low gain mode already sounds great.

I use both most days - UP4 on the go and ua3 on the laptop. If I had to choose I'd go with up4 although the ua3 sounds a tiny bit better.

How do I get it to run AAC on my iPhone so far it seems to be stuck in SPC according to the color coordination of the up4 being blue

The Colibri is a step up from this in sounstage and resolution. It's also a touch warmer.

If only wireless go with up5. If balanced 2.5mm or 4.4mm up5. More power go with up5. If you want to use SD card m0 Pro.

Had to return mine, the lack of c to c charging and usb dac is extremely disappointing. It's compared to BTR5 but can't even charge using c to c. Edit: just to be clear, BT audio was phenomenal, it just didn't fit my needs.

Yes, up4 and up5 have dedicated car mode. M3 can also work with aux out.

Btr5 also has MQA and it can reproduce PCM 32bit 384khz wired

If you only use balanced outputs and full size cans, consider the BTR 5. Otherwise the UP4 is superior in SE output. Fiio has no dual DAC mode in SE and their SE output is notoriously weak. If you're ony using normal sensitivity IEMS or HP get the UP4 anyway because it's cheaper and smaller.
