Great video! Shannon Hoon is one of rock music's biggest "What ifs," in my opinion. His voice was second to none.

We agree 100%! Would have been awesome to see what he would have done. Sad.

I used to live in an apartment on State Street just around the corner from where Shannon grew up. I also went to visit his grave this past summer- it was only about two weeks after his dad had passed away. So tragic.

I briefly met Shannon Hoon after their Dallas show two days before he died. Blind Melon put on an incredible show! A buddy of mine and me were up at the very front and did the hand slap thing with him and some of the other band members as they were leaving the stage. He said hey, thank you for coming and something else but that was my "meeting him". They left from Dallas and went to New Orleans and of course that is where he died two days later. I still have my ticket stub and that was a really good memory seeing that show in Dallas. I was just getting into their music at the time and since then have collected a lot of rare and live recordings of the band. It's too bad they didn't have a longer run and that the drugs took away Shannon at such a young age. I just realized from your video that he was born the same year as me and he's only a few months younger. Well, he would be if he was still with us. It was interesting seeing his upstairs apartment at his parent's house. I can't believe that the items got thrown out according to the owner. That definitely leaves the mind wondering what could have been left there...

Friends and I visited his grave and there were roaches (joint kind) on the headstone and signed rocks with messages and 420 mentions. People must hang there on 420 and appreciate music while smoking, obviously leaving behind half joints and reaches so he could smoke with him. Beautiful kids (and any age)

He did NOT grow up in the house you showed, he grew up in Dayton then moved to 1212 central street up the road in his teens (wrote change on the porch), the house shown is where he stayed when he would come back to town and stay with his mother after already living in LA… I am close friends with Shannon’s family and from Lafayette my whole life, but people keep saying how kossuth was his home and there 100% wrong… that guy renting out his “childhood room” is completely wrong.
@McAndrewTravels3 жыл бұрын
Hey Gavin, Thanks for great info! As we state in the video we didn't know for sure if and when Shannon lived in that house. The owner did seem to know so we let him do the talking, and he was great! We'll have to come back and check out the other house one day!

@@gavingordon2107 We caught him off guard. He told us what he heard, didn’t know who Shannon was until his wife told him. We’re so happy that he let us take a look around, he was really nice. Wish everyone were as nice as him. We aren’t always warmly welcomed like that when we go to a house to do a story lol.

I think maybe the tone of the video was off putting. Very game show host sounding rather than an honorific tone. It's clear y'all we're trying to honor and are novices at making videoes, the tone just came off wrong.
