What are your thoughts on the Ball brothers playing in Lithuania?
@emilio-kk6fm7 жыл бұрын
It's a good idea because they get experience playing professional ball. They are not NBA level players, but neither is college or high school.
@yildirimyayla63857 жыл бұрын
They do speak English in Lithuania, unlike how American people don't speak any other language than their first language. Lithuanian NBA player Jonas Valanciunas said that the language barrier would be "no problem at all" for the Ball brothers because everyone in Lithuania speaks English, particularly the younger generation.
@alexantony25447 жыл бұрын
Yildirim Yayla exactly. Im Lithuanian myself and the statement about people not talking English over here is the biggest pile of bs I've ever heard. Not at all surprising to hear such things from Americans tho, they tend to live and stay in their own little box

Skip, the Olympics in Sarajevo was in 1984. The world has changed dramatically since then. God the amount of ignorance and arrogance in this video is astounding.
@Zeuwamakanuwadiegwu7 жыл бұрын
These folks are arguing from ignorance. Here are the merits: 1) Playing against seasoned pros is better than playing against age group competition in high school or college 2) They get to learn their real strengths and weaknesses in a competitive context and can improve enough to be better than college draft picks of the same age 3) They’re actually earning money versus being on “scholarship” while the school rakes in millions off their work 4) Being in a different country will give them a different perspective on life and a different way of playing the game 5) Being in a less glamorous location keeps them out of the spotlight and they can focus 100% on their craft. In my opinion, Lavar Ball has made a great decision by putting these kids on a road less traveled.

Cmon, its just Shannon Sharpe being ignorant - Lithuanians, especially those under the age of 30, speak better English than most other European countries - its the bigger European countries, like Poland or France, who think they are the center of the world and dont need to learn other languages. The average person in Lithuania is fluent in three languages - and the English speakers in Lithuania probably have better English grammar than the Ball kids!=) Second of all - Lithuania has every single kind of cuisine available - its not some third world country! So the Ball's will be able to eat their fried chicken, burgers and pizzas - no problem! But yes, it is cold as hell!=)

Don't forget Lithuania is the temple of Basketball. A country with 2 Millions inhabitants that compete with a country that has 500 millions inhabitants has to be respected by true basketball experts that loves the game. They're playing in the low tier league for a short time, then going to the higher tier league. Playing against grown men will make them better, and they can sell their shoes and do other things that NCAA players can't do. These two are more popular right now than any NBA player outside of Lebron and Lonzo, so wherever they go, the internet is following. This is a good move for Lavar and co.

I use to like Lavar, n I'm certainly not gonna knock anyone's hustle, but these boys are coming off like spoiled lil rich white kids. Dad is building a brand n I respect that, but you have to build character as well as the father. We'll see how it works, it's really just a matter of opinion how they come up. Example, some people put their kids in public school, some put their kids in private school, n some choose to homeschool n there's no right answer often times, just a different approach.
@christopherczimback60917 жыл бұрын
King A ummm no they are acting like spoiled little black kids. Anyone from any race will act like this when spoiled and not facing consequences for their actions. Don't fool yourself and think that blacks with money can't benefit from privilege either.
@kinga32367 жыл бұрын
It can affect anyone, agreed. However when you think of spoiled entitled kids most people wouldn't associate that with black children. But agreed it's a comfort n privilege issue more than anything, that was just my analogy. Comfort n privilege makes it easy for people to be spoiled, soft and entitled among o good many other things. Thanks for your response

It's not only going to work - it's going to work AMAZINGLY well. It's like the time Vlade Divac, Petrovic and Kukoc (and the rest of the team) went up to the mountains in Yugoslavia to train - away from distractions. We all saw how that worked. LaMelo and Liangelo will be away fromdistractions - only basketball 24/7. It'll work. And besides, they didn't sign their life away. It's just half a season. Lavar will get the last laugh when LaMelo plays for the Lakers.

The only things that Lithuania has going for it is the skinny ladies (& there are some STUNNING ones over there). Apart from that, the Ball brothers will more than likely struggle with everything else.

For whatever reason I feel like melo will last longer but liangelo will spend more minutes on the bench. They will definitely learn a lot but these guys are no joke. They are grown men like Shannon alluded to.

Sharpe is wrong about one thing. You most certainly can use yourself as leverage to either acquire someone or give someone more money than they're worth (thus, preventing them from leaving). LBJ is a prime example of that. He forces the Cavs to get whoever he wants and used himself as leverage to force the Cavs to overpay his client Tristan Thompson. When more than one player on the same team share an agent, it is common place for that agent to leverage one player to get a better deal for the other player.

So Fresh So Real you realize they don't have to stay in that league right? If you're good in that league you get scouted and get picked up by a team in a higher division. Every time they go up a level and play their stock will rise and it'll develop them much better than playing against teenagers in the NCAA

@Cornwall18887 жыл бұрын
ABSolutely you expect them to play vs Muslim teams? That wouldn’t end well 😂😂
@absolutely99247 жыл бұрын
They wouldnt play. That's problem. Muslim countries don't consider Isreal to exist. Professional players are banned from playing in their national teams if they play against Israelians. I belive two stars and team captain of some muslim country that now is World Cup participant were banned becouse they played against Jewish soccer club in chempions leaugue. In Judo or some other wrestling chempionships couple months ago Jewish national team member won gold medal and they didnt play his anthem.

Food is great in Lithuania. Internet is the best in the world (not a joke) and whole country is excited to see them come over there and will treat them the best they can. They’ll be living in at a 5 star resort in that area(which is known for). Basketball oddly enough might be the biggest challenge, the team doesn’t expect these guys are good enough to battle in the league, so it’ll be interesting. If Levar really wants to train his kids and focus on basketball, get his kids to the next level, it might be a great getaway from all the distractions for all of them I’d imagine. Can’t wait for Lavar showing up in the biggest arenas and cities. In the front row at Euroleague games experiencing the passion that people have for basketball in our country. Lithuanians wanna see the Big Baller Brand, everyone’s ready to welcome these guys with open arms, trust me.

Keedru1113 _ Right though, I agree -to be honest, they dont suck, and if it wasnt for the publicity of BBB over the last year: they would just be decently talented, highly recruited American basketball players. I really think they should have continued on the UCLA path, but to be honest...I wish Lavar would let these boys grow up normally develop as basketball players....AND YOUNG ADULTS! -and I'm saying this as an AAU father and coach
