spicysushi23 I understand that but they can't neglect technique for sounding emotive. The voice is an instrument and improper technique can seriously damage it. K-pop has a lot of emotive singers in my opinion but they technical vocalists like Sohyang that showcase the complexity of singing honestly. I think proper technique and being emotive are both equally important for great vocalists.

Ofc I have always loved Shannon, but she always chose songs that weren't really suited for her, and every time she sang you could hear her strain a lot. That's why I never doubted JYP once when he critiqued her, even when she cried. I knew he only did that because he cared for her and wanted to make sure she sang without losing herself in the song (in a bad way). He wanted to hear Shannon, not Ariana, and he wanted to see the sincerity. He wanted to see her emotion animating not only through her voice, but through herself; And that's what he saw here. Plus just because he doesn't have a bunch of TaeYeons or Mamamoos etc. doesn't mean he can't teach. Also he has a lot of talented singers, 15&, Jun.K, Yenny, Bernard Park, Day6, JoKwon, etc. People need to stop comparing singers to other singers. People have different styles of singing, and just because you're not powerful like Ailee, doesn't mean you can't sing. Funny thing is, people weren't saying this kind of stuff until TWICE came out, but the reality is they can actually sing too. Maybe they're not the best singers like TaeYeon, but they actually can sing pretty well, if you don't believe me then you should check out ChaeYoung's melody project.

Some people are gifted singers. Shannon is clearly a very gifted singer who works hard. Since I found out about her 3y ago, she rlly shocked me. I worked with a large amount of singers before and honestly she not only has a great pitch, but also a good breathing and a wide range just like Ailee. JYP is quite biased atm since they focus way too much on KPOP groups, since Shanon William is more like a solo artist and would probably prefer to perform as one than in a group then JYP doesn't really suit her even so they are the best atm at promoting their idols, but they also have dumped a lot of trainees and etc in JYP and has more failure as for solo artists. SM, LOEN-Starship or YG should be the choice for her. But if she is in JYP, she has more opportunity at least to get more exposure or just decide on trying to debut on a girl group since there are a lot of programs for potential gg even if they are all in a different company no matter how big or small they get to audition in the program.

well they have to judge her harder, she's already a trained singer, plus on top of that she has theater singing training since she was a theater performer from when she was little.

I really don't want her with either YG or JYP.... She can sing circles around all their Idols while she's asleep. She deserves an agency that knows how to work with real singers, not just entertainers... She should join Ailee at YMC or other singers who know what they're doing in SM.
