Hi there, I I wanted to ask you if you could see up close right after the surgery or it took you sometime to adjust. I did Odyssey multi focal in my right eye and I have difficulty reading or seeing anything close my doctor said it will get better, but I am very concerned for now. can you please share your experience? Thank you.

@ 👋 Bella my result was consistent with up close from day one. Have both eyes done same day w odyssey. To this day I’m so pleased as have not picked up glasses. Thinking on your info you mentioned, perhaps the other eye is creating the issue due to the odyssey being different power and in focus ?? Just thought as not sure your other eyes ability. Perhaps getting odyssey in other eye would balance out issue? Just a thought to run by Dr. good luck to you. Again typing this no glasses and only time I’ve picked up readers is to throw them in the garbage. At least 15 pair are out of my house as so disliked them. Let me know any other questions as to help.

I recently had the J&J Odyssey Toric lenses inserted into both eyes. It's been a life-altering decision!! I’m a 49-year-old male and have been pushing off cataract surgery for years. Everything Dr. Wong is saying is 100% accurate. I'm nine weeks in since the first lens was inserted. My reading vision is getting better by the day. Anything closer than 6 inches starts to get fuzzy. My Dr. said I was 20/20 at my last appointment! Distance and clarity are exceptional. I see the halos around LED lighting, but I think I always did, so I don't feel discomfort.

Great video, Dr. Wong. However, I am a little surprised that you don't have the light adjustable lens as one of the best to purchase considering the price tag. With this being said, is there a reason why it's not on your favourite list ? The reason I'm asking is because I am considering visiting you, but I'm trying to do some research into the best lens available. I am indeed a candidate for the light adjustable lens.

@TonyDL9 күн бұрын
Dr. Wong, what a great overview of the 3 lenses and their pros/cons! I'm considering Odyssey and wondering... when you do premium lens replacements, do you rely on a single biometry measurement for pre-op or do you measure more than once on different machines or different days? What is your reasoning behind this? Many thanks!
@ShannonWongMD9 күн бұрын
Our patients use artificial tears 4x/day for one week before their biometry measurements. Biometry measurements are almost always done one time only unless their are inconsistent measurements or reasons to repeat the biometry to calculate the correct IOL.

Dr. Wong, what do you know about the Johnson and Johnson PureSee IOL? Also, when do you think it will come to America? I am getting lens replacement in my left eye with a Clearview 3 in 2 months and then a month later Odyssey lens in my right eye. Just curious if PureSee would be a better choice for right eye. Also wanted to add astigmatism in left eye is 0.67 and my right eye is 1.23. My left eye is my dominant eye. Opthamolgist does not suggest LRI to fix the right eye astigmatism so that eye can get the Clearview 3. Thoughts on all of this? Thank you for your time.

Would it be useful to interview actual patients that received the lenses, so they can comment directly on their experience? Even ones that may not have been happy. Your clinicians are commenting on patient feedback, which is limited in scope.

Yes-this page won’t let me link it. It’s from J&J, Google the simulator. Be sure to put in whether you need toric for astigmatism. It compares various types of lenses, including the Odessey, for night driving, dining in low light, and shopping at the grocery store. Really cool! It’s called Clear Vision For You, all one word.

I have been using your videos to get an understanding of the different options for IOL and the surgical process involved. I would like to see content focused on EDOF options. I have never had binocular vision having been born with severe strabismus that was corrected at 16. My prescriptions have always reflected my monocular vision and when I got LASIK we continued mono vision. I am about to start the cataract process and discussions of best IOL options. Based on what I have learned and what has worked for me in the past multifocal seems to be an overkill for a 73 old (old dog new trick) and that EDOF might be the best option. BTW highly motivated to reduce dependence on glasses. Thanks and keep the information coming.
@mr.nicky.3 ай бұрын
He does have some videos on that. Any video discussing Vivity, Symfony Optiblue, or the Light adjustable lens (LAL) are all regarding EDOFs. Caution with Symfony as it is a multifocal, but is classified as an EDOF because of its reduced range. It will have more halos/glare than Vivity or LAL, but less than Odyssey or Panoptix.

Very informative video Dr. Wong. I don't seem to find any information on the lens that I upgraded to. Can you tell me anything about the J & J ICB00 lens. You have kindly written me back recently. I am struggling with the cataract surgery in my right eye and have gone to the expense of new glasses, sun glasses and the upgraded lens and feel lost as to what to do to improve my vision. The surgeon in Germany suggested the Yag laser to clear up the film on the back of the lens, but I almost feel that I should get a new one that would allow me to see as I could before, which was pretty much free of my glasses except super close up. Frustrated to have blurred vision, halos and some double vision. I can't read my phone, lap top or anything else. Thanks so much for any suggestions you might have.

I remember Dr. Wong mentioning the Yag laser for clearing cloudy IOL in more detail in the video from 4 months ago. He said it's an issue that can occur with any lens and the Yag should clear it up very simply.

I am scheduled for the Toric in Dallas (Plano) in two weeks. QUESTION: Is the Odyssey IoL the shown in this video, the same as the Odyssey Toric ?
@ShannonWongMD3 ай бұрын
The odyssey is manufactured in 2 versions: an astigmatism-correcting (toric) version and a non-astigmatism-correcting version. The surgeon makes the choice based on the anatomy of each patient of which version is best suited for a patient.

@RoyBluemel-z2b9 күн бұрын
I am not Dr. Wong, but I have had the ClearView 3 lenses now for 4 months. Right eye 20/20 distance. Left eye 20/25 distance but could be corrected with a lasic touch up. (I will wait a year before doing anything more to my eyes). Up close I can read J1 and can read fine print. And interestingly, the left eye is a little better at reading small print. But, for reading for longer periods of time, I use 1.25 readers to increase clarity. Overall, my vision is excellent throughout my entire range of vision. However, a common symptom of the ClearView 3 lens is the ghosting of words that is now minimal, as my brain has become used to the lenses. I chose this particular lens over the Odyssey because I didn't want halos around lights at night. My night vision is excellent. The ClearView 3 has some limitations as to who qualify for this lens. ClearView 3 doesn't correct for astigmatism and it comes in a much smaller eye range of correction, so if you don't qualify for the ClearView 3, the Odyssey would be an excellent choice too because the Odyssey can correct for astigmatism and has a larger eye range of correction. As to people who keep asking about the Light Adjustable Lens, I would ask them why would you choose a single focal point lens over a multi-focal lens that gives you back your full vision range? Overall, I am very satisfied with the ClearView 3 lenses.
