(Any corrections/updates will be added here!) *Hyper Light Drifter* : While the Drifter Blade is not in the game proper (as a weapon connected to its own quest), it appears as a reskin of Risky's sword when it is at full power. *Backer Designs* : The enemy Slimegal was also a backer design. *Shantae Sees Rotty as Human* : Fun fact - in Seven Sirens, if you use the Refresh Dance near Rotty, she will briefly turn into her human form.

Fun fact about the Half-Genie Hero campaign: it was actually extended via PayPal, and thanks to that, we were able to get what would become Friends to the End. The new total ended up being about 50 grand short of the "Dish Served Cold" chapter, where Nega Shantae was to make a return in the main storyline, but it's very likely that idea was repurposed for the aforementioned Friends to the End campaign.

To be fair to those confused, it IS a fan-service game. Thing is, it's a "Fan-Service" game that knows it's full of fan service and refuses to take itself seriously and would rather make a fun, entertaining experience over just being "sexy".

This is still a great Shantae Iceberg video. I don’t know much anything about Shantae in terms of who’s Shantae’s parents was or how Shantae became a half genie hero in the 1st place. Maybe I’ll play all of the games to find out about it.

Since you covered abilities people don't realize Shantae can do, I figured out she has another very special power. She can essentially do anything she truly believes she can. This is best shown in the DLC where you play her as a ninja. She believes the costume and her magic scroll are what are letting her do all sorts of things like teleporting and manifesting shuriken and skilled katana slashes rivaling her hair-whipping speed only to find out that the ninja garb arrived after her journey had ended and she was wearing her potty training clothes AND that her "ninjutsu scrolls" were actually instructions on potty training she herself had written as a toddler. This incredible ability I feel is supported in how she restores Scuttle Town at the end of Pirate's Curse simply because she feels she can with the influx of magic. Also, every video I've seen with her as a combatant in versus debating has her use her hair to grab people or objects but I've never seen canonical content where she can do this. Have you ever seen this somewhere?

Funny you should mention the ninja outfit, that was an entry on one of the other icebergs but I had no idea what it meant until people started alluding to it in one of my polls, prompting me to look up the ending of that mode. I guess explaining it in the way you just did would have made that better. XD And no, as far as I know she has never been depicted with that ability in-game.

Great video. I'll admit the attractive ladies are something that drew me in to the series personally, but despite that... The description of Rotty on the Risky pistols promotion... Sexily decomposing is not a phrase I was prepared to read... I don't like how thats worded. I feel like it implies the decomposing part is whats sexy and i don't believe that was the intention on their part... I know its one screen but for some reason that is just stuck in my mind now. Ah Shantae. A franchise that simply embraces the fan-service with its own humour and still deliver an entertaining platforming gameplay along with a colorful and unique cast and a story that by itself is amazing yet full of secrets to be revealed. I don't know how an iceberg can be both Ultimate and Mini but it worked. I love Shantae, and seeing all the curiosities, secrets and mysteries about her is so cool! Like hints to her father, Watch Quest and the alterante universe, Rotty's original evilness, the crossovers, and even the creepypasta. After Risky Revolution, what awaits to Shantae? Great video!

i think 1 more detail i'd add to the iceberg is Dance Through the Danger's melody playing near the end of the loop of the Final Boss theme in Pirate's Curse. if the melody was purposely supposed as a sped up version of the first game's game over theme, then also having it present during the 3rd game final battle is an insanely cool detail to make the Pirate Master even more intimidating. also also would add the easter egg of human Rottytops in Seven Sirens since that's also really interesting and kinda well hidden. i loved the iceberg so much btw ^u^

Sky's theme song sounds like, "Love you babe's theme song, but yeah, I can tell the different. GBC adventure sky level theme. Bolo's theme sounds cool, and his old one is nice. 2:51 sounds so good, and the game over one sounds very creepy when listening to it. 3:35 I didn't know that! His 2nd VA, I know, but his first, I didn't know that. 4:36 This tiger looks so adorable, I want a plushie of her, and Succubus one looks like she is ready for Halloween. 7:26 Interesting and also G1 Transformers characters intro I see. 11:25 Nice that Mimic or forever Uncle Mimic take care of Shantae when she get older, the Pirate-Master will not ask Risky and Shantae what did she did to his face even his face is part of Risky's clothes. Rotty is just too fun and cute rather than evil. She is a cool person, I wish her brother be cool. his younger brother is alright. More theory and iceberg of Shantae soon, I enjoy it. Plus ( Thank to the archive stuff of my friends Hachimitsu-ink, huge fan Shantae btw ) Even I look that mini short comic on Bolo get "along" with these ladies like Rottytops and Sky. Kinda interest see Shantae want get along with Bolo too ( yes I know. The comic Is not Canon and the series not focus too much shipping ) but, Is kinda hilarious see that web short comic ^^ I Remember like was yasterday! In the most genuinely way I can state it, I have never seen anybody who plays & enjoys video games that looked at this series and immediately tried to write it off for moral or political reasons. That hasn’t happened in the years that I’ve been playing the games If there are people that do this then it was probably most healthy for them to move on from the series and look at other games they might want play. “Metroidvanias” are games where either you know what the term means or you don’t and you try one for the first time. Shantae is probably definitionally the most safe, entry-level Metroiavania platformer in all in the history of indie gaming.

Shantae is definitely a fan-serveice game, and the game is definitely aware its a fan-service game. But it actually has a lot of gameplay substance outside of the scantily clad women. Each game has its own distinct gameplay charm, so If you find the fan-service enjoyable, or can look past the fan service each game in the series is a pretty short but sweet metroidvania platformer. (the first one can be kind of difficult though, and probably has the most issues but it is still very impressive for its time and for a Gameboy Color game).

Overall, this is a really great video, my only complaints is that the last part about the creepy pasta didn’t really seem like it fit with everything else, additionally I am still looking around for any verification about the full 3D game from Matt or somebody else credible. Beyond that, I really wish I knew this video was in the works before hand, as I recently got leaders at Way Forward to agree that they consider Shantae to be the mascot of the company.

I know I had a convo with somebody in one of my Seven Siren streams about that, some of the others were from polls where people just accused Shantae fans for being "simps" and whatnot, hell even on this very video I've gotten comments about the age rating for these games, as well as one about why the mermaids on the thumbnail aren't censored.

A bit of a complex answer but: The og game, Risky’s Revenge and the Wii U and 3DS versions of Pirate’s Curse are all rated E/E10+. Meanwhile both HGH and Seven Sires were rated T upon release and Pirate’s Curse was re-rated to T when it was first ported to other consoles
