Does anyone in your family continue his tradition of performing Shandong folk music? Mr. Liu was quite famous in his day, and even my former professor (Dr. Terry E. Miller from Kent State University in Ohio, USA) traveled to Taipei to study with him in 1978--and the university still has one sheng that he made. I guess you knew that he is on at least two LP records produced in the United States: "China: Shantung Folk Music & Traditional Instrumental Pieces" (Nonesuch, 1972) and "The Song Of The Phoenix: Sheng Music From China" (Lyrichord, 1982).
