This is the best comment I've seen in any gongfu comment section in years. Poetry comes from poiesis, which is greek for "creating, to act, move". It's the basic roots of european alchemy (combined with egypt alchemy). This is in my understandings the purest sense of Gongfu, since you learn to write yourself trough your actions. Thanks for your comment. Made it much easier for me to put it into words.

Are there northern and southern Lohan styles? because it looks possible that Karate took many movements from this style of Kung Fu, but as I read , Karate took elements from Fujian styles of Kung Fu . Thanks fors sharing!! :)
@markovuksanovic148 жыл бұрын
jarmenta4 Indeed, the primary style karate took techniques from is Fujian White Crane, which is a southern style. Though there were many diplomats from northern China that came to Okinawa and brought northern styles with them. The best example is probably master Kusanku, who was a military ataché in Okinawa and a Luohan Quan master. Also, some prominent karateka traveled to nortern China to learn there, like Sokon Matsumura, who learned from master Iwah and brought the forms Seisan and Useishi (Gojushiho) with him back to Okinawa.

Bodhidharma found Zen, not a martial art. it was, as historical notes hint, retired military commanders who brought Kung Fu to the temple before Bodhidharma, and also combined Kung Fu with Zen after Bodhidharma. 🙏🏻

I read that the 18 Budha hands were originally taught to the Shaolin by a Mathematician who wanted to help them get fit because they were fat and over weight. The fighting didn't start until 100's years later when it was advanced by a shaolin who fenced and was a boxer or something , eventually they came up with posture boxing and soon the boxer rebellion , all from some monks who were working out and starting training to fight for something to do , not for a real cause, then decided they wanted to over throw the government.

I'm losing my interest in Shaolin Kung Fu because I can't find videos on KZbin which contain techniques which would be reasonable to work in a real fight situation. Unfortunately, I don't know If the monks don't want to reveal the real applications of their art, or If it's Shaolin Kung Fu that doesn't work. And It also makes me think: If Bodhidharma taught exercices to the monks of Shaolin Temple to make them healthier and stronger, was It only for those purposes or his teachings would realy have efficacy in a real warfare of that epoch?
