I also want to say that I am VERY, VERY glad that you got the ORIGINAL hong kong version of the movie and in original cantonese language. Almost all the other reactors got the americanized version, which is cut down by 22 minutes (!!!), changed substitle text, sounds effects dubbed over, and did not have the hilarious bloopers at the end.

But Let's be honest, the music in the american version makes everything better and funnier but i wish the american version hadn't cut the movie (idk why they did it)

​@@Komi1corno knowing its a hong kong film, directed by hong kong director, with all hong kong actor actresses, location shot in hong kong, languages spoken are native cantonese dialet with some mandarin, and the environment settings and story plot is all of chinese culture, suddenly hearing western music is just a huge abrupt disconnect. and also because I heard the original music first and liked it. The opening theme of Shaolin Soccer (2001) is iconic and invigorating. It is actually a remix of the theme song of Bruce Lee's The Way of the Dragon (1972). So the western music included in the americanized version is not my liking at all. I am guessing the company that brought the movie into USA probably had to do these western music due to licensing issues or to appeal to american market. I am also guessing they probably cut the movie length down because of the shorter attention span of the american market, or maybe costing. There are reactors who felt the americanized version was very abrupt and they felt team shaolin went into the finals against team evil very quickly. Context of story and character developments are lost.

Joy's laughter in this is so infectious! This one got her good! It's called "slap stick comedy", it's very physical comedy. I read somewhere saying slap stick comedy is universal as there is no language besides 'the body' and everyone has one! So everyone can laugh along. Another more modern Stephen Chow films that are hilarious is "The Mermaid" (2016), very funny! Hilarious slap stick comedy again

This movie came out before Kung Fu Hustle and it was a big hit in Hong Kong. You might remember at the beginning of "Kung Fu Hustle" kids are playing with a soccer ball and he crushes the ball with his foot and says "No more soccer!"

Actually, the thing about Stephen Chow movies is they have different jokes in each dub, even the mandarin and cantonese versions have different jokes! and the english versions do too, so its one of those kinds of movies worth watching in different languages just for this.

Hey, I noticed that you watch the edited version of this movie..there should be a scene where Stephen Chow was singing with one of his "brothers", but the crowd hates their performance (because the song was awful!😂), and that's why they ganged up on him (stephen chow) and that's when Ng Man Tat sees him fighting them with the ball after he took the can out of the wall..I scrolled through the comments but no one mentions this (surprisingly!)
