Tongbei power, also found in Bajiquan, Xingyiquan, Chen Taijiquan... probably all good northern styles. Excellent!

Damn it that connection between the left and right never occur to me. I know that with striking it shouldn't just be the arms but the mechanics of the rest of the body as well. I am going to start thinking about using the left shoulder to move my right and vice versa when doing my forms. I am so used to thinking and using my parts as individual and not as a unit. I'm training in Tang Lang Quan. I do the moves in my from but i feel it lacks power and intent. People always ask me what special moves I can do from Kung Fu or how to use it in a fight but in reality the moves look like any other martial arts in a real fight. What you get from kung fu is principles like this, and how can you visually demonstrate esoteric things like this to close minded people? So much beneath the surface of our movements and actions. Major problem I have is breathing properly, I hold tension and i am often shaking.

I really feel for the guy in the white, I have the same problem holding my breath. It's due to how we perceive power in the West as tension and force. We feel strong when we overcome something through active force(yang). For example lifting weights and subconsciously we think the harder the resistance the stronger we are so we create tension in our bodies like being a rock but in reality this makes us slower, taxes our bodies. This is why internal exercises/martial arts are important because it trains you to move your body and use energy without exerting force in that kinda manner. I started to realize this more training with my sifu. Kept trying to hit harder and faster and him just redirecting and using my energy against me. nothing magical anyone can do it with enough training and sensitivity.

@@LunaticReason There is a very good reason why you should hold your breath through heavy lifts rather than do something else. Western athletes (and all athletes, really) know about the importance of breathing quite perfectly. West vs. East is a dichotomy that doesn't really exist.
