I can’t like this enough. In my country and state, abortion is now effectively illegal. But in Iran women are actually standing up for themselves, for their futures, for their daughters. It’s so inspiring and brave and gives me so much hope. For Iranian women, for women everywhere, I hope that, as Shappi mentions, history is written by the oppressed

monotheism, zealotry, and the nation-state... individually dangerous, in combination? deadly. The Iranians, particularly the women of Iran, have tried a few times to lift themselves out from under oppressive regimes. This time, I hope it works.
@Ti-up3dv
@Ti-up3dv 2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, monotheism is terrible. I prefer societies where they sacrifice innocents to the sun god. Or even better, ones where they decide there's nothing other than matter so we can make our own rules and people in power just murder anyone who might oppose them by the 10s of millions. That evil, evil monotheism. It's the explanation for all the evil humans have ever committed! Before monotheism, all humanity lived in peace and harmony. Come, comrades, let's get rid of it. We will be so much better off!

Iran never stood a chance at freedom with how much we meddled into their country. The US and UK exiled Reza Shah in the early 1900s from his own country because he tried to nationalize their own oil. The UK and US then removed the democrat prime minister Mossadegh from Iran in the 1950s because he tried to nationalize their own oil. They helped the shah's son stay in power while he was under the threat of facing the same fate as other leaders. But in his last 6 or so years in power he too began to become independent and hostile towards the US and UK who held his country hostage and began to speak of nationalizing their oil. Iran then burst into socialist and communist uprisings that suddenly got hijacked into an islamist révolution. In 2016 the BBC's investigation into declassified CIA records showed that Khomeini and the mullahs were put into power by the US to destabilize Iran and mitigate soviet influence.
