The main thing about Neuralink compared to other brain chips is that it has a huge number of wires in the brain and doesn't require complicated machinery to work. With the right software it could wirelessly connect to and control any device you want, though learning how to use it might take the patient some time. Moving a cursor was an obvious first step because it's simple enough that you can teach a monkey to do it. Now that they have human patients they can tackle more complicated applications.

Given the user imagines movement of a particular part of the wrist or hand and you are considering the use of sign language, perhaps think on designs for a 'hand' that has much more degrees of movement and control. There would have to be some similarity to a hand I would think. But once you have a good design, you can show video of this 'hand' imaginary controller thing doing a predictable repetitive movement, configuration (like sign language), and combination of those . Then visually display and ask them to imagine that they are the ones moving and configuring the controller. This would probably take some practice. But then when you map to that, the user has many movements and configurations unbound by the limits of human biology. Full 360 wrist spinning as an example. I would be curious how abstract you could go... 🤔
