Question. I have a Shapeoko 3 xl. It doesn’t have the metal t track bottom. What do you suggest to do for this issue. I wanna use your slats cnc file to make them but stuck on what to do to get the not to metal thing the slats sit in . Oh and reduce your music volume at the end. It differs from the talking audio level by like 3x 😊

Sorry, I’m not familiar with the 3 xl machine. Look up Myers Woodshop on KZbin and Etsy. He sells waste board files for that model.

Great idea for a better waste board, I’m curious as I don’t own a Shapoco CNC machine but i am considering investing in one. I love the idea have having the 20mm dog holes in the spoil board. What if we added a full MFT 3/4 top to the supplied waste board and placed it over top, would that concept work? Thank you
@LaserGarage5 ай бұрын
Yes that would work, I’ve seen people do that in some form. Basically you’d be installing a sacrificial 3/4 piece of MDF on top of the stock slats and cut out the 20mm dog holes in whatever pattern you want.
@Miter5TrimCarpentry5 ай бұрын
@@LaserGarage thanks for the reply and feedback. Yes, essentially taking advantage of the 20mm dog holes to square up material for X and Y on the spoiler bed while using a huge variety of clamping options that an MFT table top provides. Again, like I said, I don’t own and never operated a CNC before and my assumptions can be incorrect.

@lasergarage do you offer these for the shapeoko 4 xxl beds?
@LaserGarage3 ай бұрын
No I’m really sorry I don’t. I don’t have one of those machines to test on and they are like 33” long making them a little more expensive to ship unfortunately.
@emo65170.10 ай бұрын
To reduce the wear and tear on CNC and carbide bits, maybe could you start a sheet on the CNC to cut the holes for the inserts then cut the sheet on a table saw? Would also save material as the saw blade kerf is likely thinner than the CNC bit.
@LaserGarage10 ай бұрын
Definitely something that could be done but it would take a complete file overhaul and would require more touch time on my part.

#wasteboard Brett…just a word of advice from an old CPA that worked with small businesses my entire career. You can take it or tell me I’m full of it, but don’t undervalue yourself on your labor rate. $50 an hour is a pretty low rate for someone with your experience and knowledge. You are an expert at what you do. Get paid what your worth especially in todays market and todays economy. Everything is going through the roof!!!
@LaserGarage10 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for the kind words and advice. You’re 100% correct. I like many struggle with pricing and under shooting my value. It’s a constant work in progress.
@fiorecpa10 ай бұрын
That’s for sure Brett. That was the number one issue I tried to help/fix with all of our small business clients over the 40 years plus before I retired. They were afraid to price out at what they were worth. Heck…mechanics are getting $125-$175 per hour now…why shouldn’t woodworkers get what they are worth also!! Keep up the great videos. You have no idea how much it really helps us CNC novices. I’m just grateful to maybe have contributed back to you and other woodworkers from my experience. Let’s keep making that dust!!!

Do you plan on doing a 4x4?
@LaserGarage10 ай бұрын
No not at this time unfortunately. 1. I’m not sure if I’d be able to cut them on my 2x4 machine because I believe they are 49” long. Plus I don’t own a 4x4 so I wouldn’t be able to test them to make sure they work. 2. Shipping and material on the 2x4 is already a lot. The 4x4 is double the material and weight. They would be quite pricey I think.
@dombertolini970610 ай бұрын
Can you make this for the the 4 x 4
@LaserGarage10 ай бұрын
Sorry I wish I could but not at the moment. Since I don’t own a 4x4 I can’t really test it that well to make sure everything fits and whatnot. It would also be pretty slow to produce on my 2x4 and be pretty dang hard to ship since they are so long. There are 4x4 slats designs on cutrocket.com though if you’d like to make them yourself.
@dombertolini970610 ай бұрын
Thanks anyway for your quick response. Also I can’t get any of your plans to download. I just got my shapeoko 5 pro 4x4 I like your beginners projects on KZbin. I tried to get the address sign with no luck I like your channel.

Awesome! Been wanting/wishing Carbide 3d or someone somewhere would offer these that way it would save me time (& even money too) VS having to do it myself. The only sad thing is (for me) I wish you offered (or had a way to offer) a 4x4 version!! 😔 But truly Brett it’s a great product & offers a very convenient/easy solution & I KNOW you’re gonna be busy with these FOR SURE!! 👍💯 #wasteboard

Thank you very much! I wish I could offer the 4x4 version, I'm looking into it but man they are massive. At 49" long shipping would be crazy.

Great breakdown on how you priced the cost of your waste board set, Very reasonable when you explain everything involved, Maybe in the future I may purchase a set (I'm too new using my Shapeoko to invest in anew waste board at the moment), I cannot join your contest due to the fact I do not have an Instagram account, and do not trust Meta and what they do with my information (Already a subscriber to your channel. But I will add #wasteboard in case it trends, and possibly brings more people to your channel. Thank you for providing free plans for this as well. Good luck, I hope it is a successful venture,

Like I said, it is a reasonable price especially once you break it down. I may be a customer in the future, but until then I wish you a lot of success. Thanks for your videos as well. Good luck in both ventures! @@LaserGarage
