Great explanation~!! I just downloaded Inkscape for creating designs and I will be getting my Shaper Origin this week. This is exactly the kind of info I need. Thanks much~!!

Very helpful thanks 👍. May I ask what type of cutter and cut type you would recommend to engrave this?

I would also like to know the cutter size you would use for this and also what type of cut if I was going to fill with epoxy? Inside?Outside? Pocket etc. Thanks so much!

Hi Paul. My favorite inscription bit right now is shown in this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqrMd2uhir1ojNk). There is also a cheaper one that is nice (kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKWknqNnh7-HZtE). Links to buy them are in the description.

I would use the Festool script bit (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqrMd2uhir1ojNk), set the SO to “engrave” and do an outside cut, about 1mm depth. If you want to fill with epoxy, you can do either that outside cut and fill (if you are fine with having wood inside the letters, or do a pocket cut. For the pocket cut you will have to use super thin bits (kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6WUdJqXfrqGm5o) for the narrow angles.

Thank-you. I bought the Festool script cutter based on your previous recommendation and indeed it is great for outlines. I was wanting to pocket out and fill with epoxy so will look at a super-thin cutter for this. 👍

Thank you for this video ! Could you make a video to show how to modify the font on Inkscape, to be able to carve it ans make an inlay. How to trim the shape of the font to adapt it to the diameter of your bit.

Hi Maverick. So you would like to carve out a font, the cut out an inlay out of a different wood and insert it?

Yes that's it!

@@lvpaf So I have never done that. I would for sure not fiddle around with the svg file / font. Let me give it a try and see what I can figure out...
