I love the experimentation headspace, nicely done sir!

Great idea. I was thinking of something similar; use a 3/8" board and include 4 leveling feet at the corners. That way I can adjust the height of the tape board to be close to coplaner with the wood I'm cutting. Thanks for the video. Great stuff!

Thanks for watching Donald and good luck with your board.

I’m curious why you made it the width you did? I understand making the length as wide as you may need but the width seems overkill. Nothing wrong with it but I wasn’t sure if there was a reason you did. My SO workstation isn’t near that width and I’ve always gotten. Very accurate results from it.

No reason, it was just a board I had from when I first got my shaper and I have just kept it the same. I could very well easily cut it down but it works and I will use it as is. Thanks for watching.

Jeff wondering how your epoxy board has held up since you made it? I like the idea and I'm considering making one.

It is still doing just fine. One piece of advice. Wrap your tape under your board before you pour the epoxy. It tends to lift on the ends otherwise. Thanks for watching.

Maybe a low sheen lacquer would work better than glossy epoxy. Depending on overhead lighting, the reflection could interrupt the SO being able to read the tape. And I’m certain that nothing should be applied to the base of the Shaper Origin including wax. The sensors are quite sensitive. But it may be okay. Thanks

It works perfectly and I am quite happy with it. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Jeff. Great idea. In order to keep the panel flat might be best to seal up the backside. Ideally maybe another epoxy pour so the panel is balanced? Could try applying a laminate or painting to seal it up? I was always taught to do the same thing to both sides of a panel...

Being it's plywood I'm not to worried about the other side. Time will tell however. Thanks for watching.

What's the distance between the strips of tape?
@JeffFischer1 Жыл бұрын
A couple of inches. Thanks for watching.

How far away from your tape board can you get with the Shaper?
@JeffFischer1 Жыл бұрын
I haven't really measured but my best guess is about 12 inches. Thanks for watching.

I used a coat of polyurethane in a spray can.

So, in early 2024 what conclusions have you come to, was this a workable idea?
@JeffFischer17 ай бұрын
Yes it is and was. I use it every time I get my shaper out. Thanks for watching. The only thing different I would do next time is wrap the tape over the edge of the board. The ends wanted to float up when I poured the epoxy.

@@JeffFischer1 I don't have a Shaper yet but when I do I think I'll follow your example!

It is a fine tool and expanded my woodworking possibilities. Expensive but in my book well worth it.
