very sane advice. I've just gone through a severe lower back pain episode and during the last 5 days I did all the things you mentioned on the "don't do" list, with all the bad consequences, exactly how you describe them. thing is that I had to lay down because of intense pain, but then laying down made the pain even worse. now movement helps. and your vids help. so, thanks. and you're very good with words. i like that!

I’ve struggled with back pain since I was a teenager. I’m now pretty capable of managing and moving through a flare up. This information matches my experience really well. I do a lot do visualization, deliberate relaxing, and gentle movement. It’s the only process that actually promotes my healing. I used to lock up, avoid moving, fear the pain, and a flare up could last several months. Now, probably a few weeks.

This was what I was looking for on your page. Marvellous method. I do have spondylolisthesis. Does that mean my pain is actually from damage? I have severe pain that doesn't go without painkillers every day. But I also would want to implement your method to improve my mindset about this issue and hopefully make those flare-ups go down

Glad this helped! Spondy's are common and it depends on the type and grade, but it's absolutely possible to rehab a spondy and significantly improve symptoms and function. Our program is designed to help look at a person's health holistically and give structure and support to get people back to an active life.

It goes with pain meds? I have no real diagnosis that can be found and the pain never goes away. Sitting at week 12. Three surgeons said not my back and most likely autoimmune 😢

Well, I’m going through a flare up right now and hopefully on the back side. This morning I went to PT for follow up on hip pain exercises needed because of lumbar stenosis and hip arthritis. Doctors have recently recommended full hip replacement and lumbar laminectomy, both are surgeries I would like to avoid. I’m 68 and do water aerobics 3x/wk. So, I’m at the PT this morning and tell her I think I have or am about to have a herniated disc. The PT pokes around a bit then has me stand next to a wall and lean my hips towards the wall and Bam. Full seizure of lumbar spine. After that we did the deep breathing. It hurts to think about it while writing this. The PT then offered a heat pack which I mistakenly laid on for 10 minutes. Later, after getting home, took diclofenac and tried some decompression. Then laying on my spinal corrector and slowly stretching vertebrae it’s starting to feel better. So, I think the root cause was a long plane ride followed by long car drive and altogether too much sitting over 3 days. That was about 4 weeks ago now. Will try to relax more now because I believe it will get better soon. Thanks Doc for your excellent presentation.

Hi Doctor, I have been exercising for 6 months, 5-6 times a week. I have been spending a lot of time strengthening my core due to chronic back pain. In the beginning there was less pain, but now I am starting to have more pain in my left hip and my lower back. I am not sure why after so many months of working out I am experiencing more pain and discomfort instead of getting pain free. Would you be so kind to explain what I am doing wrong? Thank you.

Remember - pain is always multifactorial. We need to look at the whole human being, including anatomy, strength, stress, fear, sleep, nutrition, and so on. A solid plan makes all the difference.

@@ShapeshiftWellness it is hard . I was treated for periformes for many months. 10 months in pain. Finally last MRI showed 5 damaged discs in lower back. One disc protrusion is pinching the nerve root . I had 4 different cortisol shots, last one was 10 days ago and I feel much worse after the shot. Not sure where to go and what to do. I was very athletic alpinist and rock climber .

Thank you for the video I been having back tightness and slight spasms in back but I believe it's from the brain perceiving danger for many months free to bend twist and stretch I was given the wrong advice but I'm bending and twisting and stretching because the spine needs that I was making it worse who is getting even Toyota well I'm back at the gym and doing yoga but I'm still having slight spasms and tightness I guess it's okay to still continue with this leaving now I'm having constant tightness and more when I exercise the brain has to get used that I am safe and this is normal I don't believe this is coming from the discs anymore cuz it's been 11 months
