This is crazy timing that this video is in my existence… 2 nights ago I literally made a notes app entry that said, verbatim “I feel like the stress is making my back pain worse, which is in turn making my stress worse and it feels like a negative feedback Loop” im tripping out right now watching this video. It’s describing my exact life

😊 thank you awesome video I've been educating myself a lot about perceived danger pain and how it can cause many symptoms in the body I've been experiencing back issues for a year now it started as disc herniation become chronic pain because of the stress that was involved. Im working on my stress response and really being conscious of how i respond to stressors in my life. Feelings of safety in the body releases fear

I've had chronic sciatica on and off for the last 6 years... I've always been very active with exercise; I'm a rock climber, very strong core, glutes, etc. and I've always had a decent diet. In the last 6 months I've really started to "clean up" my diet. No sugar, no junk or processed food... I'd like to say it's had an impact, but it feel marginal. For me, stress and depression seem to be the biggest triggers, and the pattern runs like this: no pain or symptoms for a week or two, then a stressful, unavoidable event in my life happens, and then two or three days later I have a sciatic flare up. Most recently this was planning a birthday party for my wife. It did not feel that stressful at the time... I like these video a lot, but I'm always unsure about the steps I can take to resolve my hypersensitivity.

I’ve been there, I know first hand how much stress can trigger symptoms. If you want a deep dive on this approach, watch the masterclass and know you can always book a consult with me to see if I can help. Glad these videos are helping!

I’ve had back pain and sciatica since mid February this year. In May, an MRI showed a herniated l4-l5 hitting the nerve. I’m still in pain and am scheduled to have an epidural injection next week. Having said all that, when you mention that the cortisol injection, and hearing that it only works about 50% of the time from other sources, can it be assumed that if it doesn’t work, I may have too much cortisol already and my firefighters are tired?😅

Can you explain numbness is that considered pain? My problem started when standing my left foot would feel funny. Had a x-ray and was told I have spondylolisthesis and degenerative disc disease. Now my lower right back and leg are in pain when I walk or stand for a while, Does this make any sense to you. Never had any injury and I just retired.

Numbness is different than pain but often the two go hand in hand. I’d need to have a consultation to answer any specific questions but generally these types of symptoms improve with evidence based treatment.
