You sir are absolutely correct. Using a teapot is definitely easier.

Or boil water over your stove in a small soup pot . Tons of steam when it's boiling...

That hat went from "yeehaw" to dapper real good! I shaped my fedora using the steam from a tea kettle. Turned out pretty good even though I'd never shaped a hat before. Thanks for the demo.

I prefer Fedora's looking like the big city, Sam Spade Noir detective style. 2nd choice is Indiana Jones'.

Amazing video ! but i do have a question though. What solutions, or anything at all would you suggest i use to stiffen a blank felt sheet ? i plan to make a felt hat from a felt sheet, not a even a blank body. Who knows you might have the answer for me, thanks a lot. Again great video
@eviebaewintler-cox36647 жыл бұрын
Could use a pressing cloth to protect the hat. Though maybe the hot dripping water keeps the snakes out of your boots? For the snap, could you rest it upside down in a container the same size as the brim and press down from above (below?) Or, maybe use a bone folder to press that brim?

You have to be careful with putting Heat near a Leather Sweatband or it could shrink and change the Hat Size.

Thanks for the video! I picked up an old Akubra on Ebay with a flat and crooked brim. Your video is exactly what I need. BTW Winchesters, guitars, fedoras, and Harris Tweed jackets- what more does a guy need?

Have a new Borsalino with an impractical flat brim. In the South you have to turn the brim in order to make rain run off the front, not the back
@dpeatebc72653 жыл бұрын
Don't wear a Borsalino in the rain if you want the shape to last. Get a rain hat.

@Finkardop7 жыл бұрын
you can just dont do it to much or it could shrink the hat. a fur felt hat is deffinetley worth the investment. Check out akubra hats. you can buy them from hats by the hundred.

Mmmmm no, perhaps it was, WAS like that, but then came along a man in 1865 a legend by the name of JOHN B STETSON invented his legendary cowboy hat that revolutionalised the wild west and since then westerners opted for cowboy hats for there SUPER versatility and style. So no, you sir, are semi-wrong, stetson hats are the most western hats out here
@kimthurston91925 жыл бұрын
I think he was talking about old west "real world" hats, not john wayne movie and tv westerns, or dress hats. Just like real world old west didn't wear the fancy tooled, drop, tie to the thigh, holsters. They were usually in a cheap belt holster, or sash, or tucked in the waist, crossdraw holsters.
