I hope you all are enjoying this video! In the future, I want to make a from start to finish guide on how I shape guitar necks to show the full process. Coming soon!

It's always extraordinary to see objects emerge from sculpting. There was a guitar neck in there, and you found it! Mesmerizing to watch. Beautiful to see at the end. Well done.

Awesome. And, an especially perfect selection of wood, e.g. perfect grain.

Have you tried shaping with a router before and cleaning it up with a rasp afterwards? It's amazing how you take it from flat to round right at the end.

I haven't actually! I've seen some specialized bits that can cut the general shape out for you but they sort of scare me. lol! I want to build a neck jig here soon to cut out the round shape and then finish it with files and light sanding. Just like Temple Guitar's video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJLGZ2WZar2ZqLM This rasp faceting technique is fool-proof though. Makes it easy!

Walnut's a good tone wood - I'm not sure why it's not used more often...

I like it as well! This neck feels great too (I just oiled it.). I will say that it was a bit chippy in some spots when carving but overall not bad to work with for a neck. I've used it for bodies as well and it works great! I've seen more kit guitars use walnut bodies and fretboards over the last few years. I think it's gaining a bit of popularity. :)
