Shaping on a Shopsmith

Nice video, mine does not have the reversible table, but still helpful, for someone who has never shaped on this machine, FYI, after 9min the video goes to blank blue screen !!??

So, I have two Mark V's. Neither has this double tilt upgrade, but I've been contemplating turning the headstock around on the one with little sentimental value in order to use as a shaper/router table. Thoughts?

Is it needed to use a longer piece of material to compensate for any digs, as it appears to have a gap between the bearings?

I have a Mark V, what's the difference in using a shaper or using the router? I have a router table and can move a Roman Ogee up and down and make different profiles.

+Frank Ingram Great question, Frank! I just the last half hour on what I thought was a beautiful answer, only to lose it all when I changed windows. But in the process I found an article which explains it very well.Go to Rocklers webinar page and check it out. You can also change profiles with Shopsmith router and shaper, by using the quill.
