Because he only has one Finals MVP in four tries. So he wasn't the best player on his team 3 out of the 4 Finals appearances. Bird has three rings and three FMVP's. You gotta step up when the lights are the brightest. He's had stacked teams and lost. 73-9 and they lost. Bird had a team go 67-15 and close the deal with a chip and FMVP at the end. I would take Larry Bird over Steph any day of the week and twice on Sunday if we're just talking needing a cold blooded shooter. But then Larry could do so much more, like rebound, pass, underrated defender and playmaker. If we're just talking PG's, I'd take Magic, Isiah, and Iverson over Steph. Iverson never had a team like Steph has had, and if you want to talk shooting percentage Curry has some duds too, especially the years he had to carry a team on his back like Iverson had to his entire career. Could Steph have beaten the 01 Lakers in game 1 of the Finals with Kobe and Shaq? I highly doubt it. A.I. has the 2nd highest PPG average in the Playoffs all time, right behind Jordan.

Yeah I tend to agree with you, because Shaq has always loved Curry and talked him up unprovoked. But I think when it comes to lists overall he's fairly correct. People used to give a lot of excuses not to include Steph until he got that finals MVP. (Which I will add is silly, because it's not like Steph simply became amazing during that playoff run. But it just shows we put WAY too much focus on awards. Steph has probably indluenced the game more than anyone in the past 5+ years. So the whole narrative that a player can't be held at high regard because of lack of awards in insanity. In my opinion. You know greatness when you see it. You don't need an award to validate what is obvious. lol)

Pistons had a great team but they won that Finals b/c the NBA legalized Zone in 2002..... Not enough is talked about concerning the NBA legalizing the Zone b/c the Zone was legalized Specifically to Neutralize Shaq & future Dominant Centers by allowing opponents to guard an AREA instead of the Man.... Shaq's scoring Avg dropped from 28 points to 22 per game IMMEDIATELTY after the Zone was legalized.... Shaq adjusted Brilliantly in Miami by focusing more of Rim Protection & Rebounding to aid Miami's transition fast break & putting the scoring burden on D Wade...... b/c Shaq was jog down court & establish Post position & once he did that it was Curtains - No way to defend him...... After Zone was legalized opponents could put 3 men in the Paint before Shaq even got there & like Most Dominant Bigs Shaq's scoring occurred within 3 feet of the Rim....... This is what makes Embiid's Not just winning scoring Titles but also Avg'ing close to 35 pts a game by some years Dominating in the post & others moving his game out to the elbow like a 7 foot 325 lbs Kobe Bryant so absolutely Insane.........

Shaqs lists are always changing depending on his moods. This team of course is extremely dominant although I believe maybe another role player and maybe another shooter. I am telling you, this team all it needs Is a Reggie Miller type of player who is not ball dominant and can keep the defense honest chasing him around picks and creating easy buckets for teammates. Reggie Miller you need them players who are efficient and do not need the ball in hand. I think Shaq probably plans on playing 6'2 Curry at the SG and he can create motion offense as well and best to ever do it. Otherwise it's all fast breaks and iso back to baskets and 1 on 1. Steph belongs on every all time team because if you approach team design, you are trying to balance the floor, and the top players are overloaded in the paint and midrange. Steph stretches the defense out beyond breaking, giving you a mobile .670 efg option all the way out to half court if you don’t double him. Think about the offense you’re trying to run: MJ may be Master of midrange and slashing, but a great illustration of the value of spreading the floor is that the paint is packed and a corner 3 by even an average 3 point shooter gives you .525 efg. In order to unlock the greatest offense of all time, you have to have Steph.

Nice list, personally I would have Hakeem over Malone but can't argue with any of his choices too much. Maybe just one more big wing two way star like a healthy Kawhi or young healthy Grant Hill or Bird or Dr. J or Jimmy Butler or even Pippen or prime Kd or PG just to balance out the bench more instead of the 3 small guards for defense purposes even though Magic, Lebron, and Kobe and Jordan could guard most 3s but for the bigger ones a wing stopper off the bench to sick on whoever would be perfect. Edit: could even just be like a Rodman or Draymond for balance cause there's plenty of firepower but I'd go with prime Kawhi or KD or prime Grant Hill or Jimmy Butler for chemistry and heart since he don't care about having the ball as much.

Great list. This is the thing. Whenever ex players or even some current ones make their own lists, Kobe is usually in there. In some of them he is close to the very top of the list. Media folks are the only ones constantly trying to force him further and further down and off these lists. Glad Chris finally made some mention of that moment he had with Shaq. If the topic is Kobe, never listen to Nick, ESPN or most big media outlets. The way they cover him is a disgrace. Also good to see Shaq finally having the confidence to put himself high up on these lists. Skip has him in his top 5 too.

Thinnk about it, every arena Kobe went to, the crowd would often eventually be won over by Kobe's effort and performance and would get MVP chants. Imagine that being your team and your fans are cheering for the opponent, yea I'd be salty. A lot of these media people are fans like us, they have bias, I'd be salty to if some medium size guard was terrorizing my team and the fans are giving him praise?! Most people DON"T KNOW the fact that MVP was chosen by players before 1980-81, after that it was CHANGED to media reporters and broadcasters. There's different biases at play. Players would have been biased too, in their own way. I've watched NBA since end of MJ years, and never did i see LeBron garner MVP chants like Kobe, it's only the media that props up LeBron and tears down Kobe, it's so weird.

Stack has him #2 behind MJ & ahead of LeBron. I grew up in the 2000s and the first season I watched basketball was the year the Lakers won that first one with Shaq & Kobe. And even then, it was clear a young Kobe was special. Shaq getting fouled out, no problem. The way the media has spun it over the years. They make it seem like Kobe was carried by Shaq all the time and not that it was an actual duo. Then they criticize him for only winning 1 MVP when they're the fools that only voted him MVP once. That little sentence you heard from Broussard giving him credit for 2004 playoffs is the most you'd hear these guys say. They even go as far as credit Gasol more for when the Lakers went 3 straight finals again like it wasn't Kobe who's the driving force. 😂

Someone with high basketball IQ who can play 1 through 5 - LeBron James 5. Micheal Jordan - no explanation necessary 6th man - Kobe Bryant with the mamba mentality

It’s the interchangeability of the list. Magic or Lebron run the point, and you can still go small. Bring in Karl at the 5 put in Curry and have a spread run and gun game. Or slow down have Kareem and Tim as two 7ft rim protects and let Ai and Zeke speed past the defense. The only problem with the team is not enough in between/2-way guys. 3 lol guards that aren’t really defending.

I'll take my top 5 over Shaq's top 5 any day: Magic Jordan Bird Hakeem Kareem All of my guys are good at either taking it to the rack, mid range, or three, all of them can shoot FT's so there's no hack-a-Shaq. They are all excellent passers, two way players, Bird and Magic are underrated defenders and good rebounders. All of my guys, including my big guys can run the court with my guards so we be running Shaq out of the building with D'Antoni's Fast Break system. Good luck keeping up.... They all have something unique. Magic is a great passer and floor general. Jordan great at mid range and taking it to the hole and defense. Bird great shooter mid or three and great rebounder and passer. Hakeem owns the post and shot blocking. Kareem has an unstoppable hook shot. I'll take my top 5 over anybody's top five.

You get 3 point gaurds with those starters:magic, kobe, and bron. Someones gonna say kobe wasnt a point guard. He brought the ball up more than Derek fisher for the lakers and has the the most assist for any non point guard behind Lebron(a self proclaimed point guard). That team is UNSTOPPABLE.
