I wore cb34’s in 7/8th grade basketball team. Then Fila Hill 1,2,3. Anyways..I still hoop competitively and coach 2 youth prep school teams (middle school school 7/8th). I did try the new Shaq Devastator shoe in white/white that I scooped up at Burlington for $30. I hooped in them 2x 1 time in a shoot around and 1 time in a mini workout. In the workout they lacked cushion despite being spongy and light feeling foam. It’s just not firm enough or thick enough to work for competitive hoops. I’m 5’11 143lbd and have the build of a young Reggie Miller 😂. I felt the heel shock on plant offs heel strikes at full speed. The shoe is light on feet and isn’t too breathable due to synthetic/and real leather build. Traction is A1 tho! I’d say for $30 these would work as a casual hoop once in a while shoe. A middle school player could wear as their shoe for a season. They are durable enough to last. Check out the Devastator model on images. It’s not readily available but is a 2024 model. I think shoe Dept has a black/gum cw. Final verdict though: They work as a hoop shoe just don’t get your expectations too high…and don’t use it as your only hoop shoe unless you are a teen.

If it's good, more power to him. But I've seen his SHAQ sneakers in Walmart for $25 and they have terrible support, bounce, and traction. Cheap sneakers are good and all but the $30-50 you save shouldn't be a prize to pay for your ankles. Yes, if you go to Nike outlets, you can find cheap Nike sneakers in clearance aisle but they still have the same tech as them flagship sneakers

Sorry totally different experience. The starbury was a terrible shoe on court or on the black top. I purchased a couple of pairs to support the cause, but it was a $15 shoe through and through. Poor lock down, heel slippage, it didn’t breathe at all, traction was booty, straight cheeks and the cushioning was nonexistent, you might as well as hooped in a pair of penny loafers. With all that said it had decent styling (version 1) and I was fully behind the Steve and Barry’s mission statement to provide low cost, fashionable clothing at an (extremely) affordable price

US to EU sizes are different from brand to brand, I think bc there is a conversion problem. Brands "skip" EU sizes, but it's just the number not the literal size. For example: Asics goes from 45 > 46 (11-11.5) Nike goes from 46 > 47 (12-12.5) Adidas works around this problem with their ⅔ steps in EU sizes.

For Shaq to think about those families who aren't as fortunate to afford the overpriced status symbol shoes and make a shoe that is good quality functional and most importantly looks this good is amazing it reminds me of the Starbury brand back in the day.
