My mother and I met Gary Owen in person a few years back. He is truly authentic and very sweet. And respectfully he is kind of built like a brotha no lie. My mother and I were shocked to see how tall and how big he really is in person. He came up to my mother and gave her a hug and kiss before he left the comedy club. Very cool guy

Shaq your people are my people even though I’m white I rented a house in Compton for three months while I was doing metal fabrication and welding for custom sound studios in LA. Hands down to this day one of the greatest neighborhoods I have ever lived in. Once I met the neighborhood homies the showed me the same respect I showed them was a lot of fun every weekend. You should of heard the jokes when I would come to the weekend cookouts with anyone other than a white girl.

Shaq probably doesn't recall... but, I literally bumped into you, Shaq, about 20 yrs ago at the Cheescake Factory in Sherman Oaks, and literally just stared up in awe. I was just stuck, and didn't get a chance to shake your hand. I think that was 2002 or 2003, somewhere in that range. - I just said, "Oh Sh*t, it's Shaq!" Right then you were seated, so I missed that opportunity. I don't get star-struck, but for sports legends, I lose my mind. I respect the hustle from both of you, Gary Owen, and Shaq of course... Gary being a Navy MA3, and then driving back and forth from SD to perform, and his story of getting brought before an eval board with the CWO flipping out - that's a real hustler. Dedicated to his craft.

You can try to have a target audience, but anyone who hears it, can like it. I guess influences can guide one to a genre of comedy maybe.... But Gary has a way of striking people differently regardless of color, although it does seem the black community relates to his takes more so than others. I saw Gary many years ago in Orlando.... DT near Church Street, and he did the whale with an erection joke. Freakin' slayed every second. Heck, I used to park Shaq's Hummers at the Mall when he would come through frequently with his cousins, and family. Class act Dr. O'Neal. That Hummer wasn't easy to park, so we left it up front. The seat didn't move for obvious reasons, so normal sized people can't reach the pedals. Imbedded into the ceiling was a computer keyboard, and next to the shifter was a mouse... these connected to the onboard computer running the AV, and such. Prolly had Win XP, or Win 7 in that thing, slammed too damn low on some 24" rims. It was slick NGL.
